This sort of argument is so bad and gets used as of it's some sort of gotcha. It really exemplifies the difference in how we view men and women in terms of victimhood, agency, and class. How about this: In the US, the number of women who turn out to vote is higher than the number of men. Therefore, the people with the largest role in electing politicians who restrict reproductive autonomy for women are other women. Just food for thought.

For me, the problems are not so much about how capable a character is. Is the 'girl-power' trope getting overplayed and tiring? I don't think anyone is saying you should have to do any of those things. This is just one person's experiences and observations on how they have been treated. I think that here at least we all agree people should be treated respectfully and as more than a sterotype regardless of how they identify.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
