I wonder what the % would be if we could factor out generally useless degrees. I graduated in a STEM field (and work in another unrelated STEM field) and have witnessed a brain to sausage ratio of about 1.1

"When a child is born to a mother who is married, the law in most states presumes that the husband is the father. Likewise, if a child is born and the mother later marries her partner, the law may presume that the husband is the father. In some states, there is an irrefutable presumption of this. In these states, if a child is born during the marriage, the husband is legally the father even if a DNA test later shows someone else is the father. In other states, this presumption can be overcome if…

I'd give this an award, but quarantined communities don't allow that. Yeah, you're describing me.

I was about to reply with a "not sure" kind of answer since, as a coder myself, I still don't have much experience job hunting since I've stayed with the same startup since I stopped being janitor (stepped up lol). But then I saw that you have 1.5 years left. That changes the game because you can learn to code - and I mean really well - by building stuff in your spare time as you go. Then, by the time you're making your decision, you will (A) know if you're good at it and want to continue, and (…

When you start making your money - don't give it to them. They will 100% be asking.

Just enjoy literature. That is the way. To elaborate - compare it to when social justice types take the "I can't enjoy media because it's XYZ problematic" stance. That's not respectable because it's a sign of politics taking up too much space their lives. This goes doubly when the work in question was made centuries before today's political issues came to be. The solution is to choose not to be bothered.

Doing products I like/dislike enough to remember. I mostly pay attention to tech / personal finance stuff. Good in my experience Google Fi Google Pixel 3A Macbook Air ENT (for checking/savings) Robinhood SoFi (for Roth IRA - also credit card) Bad in my experience Verizon iPhones Windows computers later than XP US Bank All cable providers (secondhand experience only thankfully) Misc Positive Shoutouts Audacity Draw.io Atom (text editor; I specifically like it for coding without going full IDE) UN…

I had my old macbook air from 2012 to 2020 and it never had that problem. I did get charger cable and battery issues a couple times though. In terms of quality, even in in the last year I had it, it was still outperforming all the non-gaming windows laptops I encountered, not to mention how windows is basically adware at this point. I bought its "successor" for a full 2k last year, and am hoping it lasts about as long as the original.

IMO Iphones are shit, but macbooks are better than any PC I've had. Linux is fine for servers and pies but I haven't used it on a personal computer outside of VMs so no comment.

Seems fine. If you use Robinhood like I do, then you can buy shares of SPY (a common S&P ETF) and others like it. Though I tend to use Robinhood for trading rather than "set it and forget it" investments - should work either way.

The original Dexter had an arc where Dexter's manipulative 'love interest' pins his coworker with a false struggle-snuggle allegation. If they keep even half level of real shit then it'll still be good..

SoFi is good for Roth IRAs by the way. I did one of theirs with the "aggressive" automated investing setting, and it's at $2102 from $2000 since January, which implies a higher than average annual growth rate. (Apologies for unsolicited corporate simping, I think it's good though.)

Dealing the finishing blow to debts feels great. My income went up (to 42k from 24k) at the start of this year, and I was able to take out my car and student loans in a short period. It's an "achievement unlocked" feeling, and a relief every time I tally a budget or similar.

Nah, friends are valuable. Ditching friends over beliefs is a weaker move than standing by / being an example.

I saw this on a Better Bachelor video, and a guy in the comments pointed out that the source is a satire/troll account. After some digging, the source's youtube channel is "Damien Slash" - can confirm he produces satire.

That's why I don't see myself becoming a ghost in the future. While I intend to convert some percentage of my future income directly into sex, I still crave affection like mad and will have to seek actual relationships to give+get that.

I'm aiming to pay a lot of professionals over the course of my life - but it will be overseas in countries where it's regulated / legal, and I am definitely not at the point in my career where I can afford that. I may be close by the time air travel returns to normal completely, assuming the world drags its feet. But the upside is - I can raise my "number" like mad with enough money and time, and while that wouldn't solve the rest of my interpersonal problems, it would certainly supplement my li…

I'd like to know too. I'm 25 and probably won't need it soon (still incel), but if the costs are low then I'd rather have it than not.
