As a woman, I find this shameful. It degrades the noble actions of heroic men. My grandfather was in WW2. He sometimes tells us about his time in Europe. He doesn't talk much about it. It is deeply disrespectful to the men who made enormous sacrifices based on their principles. I think there is a sort of popular narrative that is influenced by movies, games, and books.
