That study is old, and it's sample size was poor. It's since been shown to be more complicated than that. I can pull the full paper if you care to read it. :EDIT: that is, the rebuttal study, not the original.

Dude, tons of electronic stuff plays in NYC. Last.fm has a handy concert calender/tracker for that sort of thing. F.e. Machinedrum (glitch-hop, Juke) just played in NYC a few weeks ago.

Walk/Run/Bike/whatever. We're a small town, and don't get a ton of traffic. Last time I heard of someone getting hit and seriously injured was 7 years ago. Probably been more but it's a rare thing.

Funny little story, basically comes down to city laws only requiring sidewalks in new subdivisions/constructions. Otherwise the homeowner is responsible for their individual sidewalk and its maintenance. And who the heck wants to pay to put in a new sidewalk, especially when theres nothing to incentivize anyone else following your lead.

I'm gonna tack on here since I feel making a fullblown post would be a bit much and this is relevant. Basically, it goes like this. I have decent natural skills and am comfortable around people (father was a teacher, very open, sweeping, relaxed style. Lends itself well to engaging people.). Evolutionary Psych is laughed at by both Biologists and Psychologists for a reason. Evolution is a lot more convoluted and indirect than that. Theres some really interesting research on exactly that situation and your utility. Basically, your 'game' and her familiarity with you contributed to a sense of safety - and more importantly, sexual prowess. ~50% of Women are willing to go with casual sex - so long as they're comfortable with the person and confident of their ability to pleasure them (i.e. Would I rather stay in and eat a good burger, or have sex with you).
