That’s like “taking diabetes medicine has high correlation with heart disease” when of course people who take diabetes meds get heart disease because of diabetes. The correlation isn’t necessarily the cause. I’m thinking the same may be true for counseling and divorce. I don’t know that I’d suggest to someone not to go to counseling when having trouble in a marriage for fear it correlates highly with divorce.
