I was going through exactly that feeling. It lasted a while. I still don’t feel the best about it but I’m more at peace with it. At least enough that I don’t just kind of sit in listless despair. Keep at the gym and maybe some other things and I’m sure you’ll get there too.

I went through a period of not knowing what to do for a long time after the split schedule started. I had never had time without my kids before. I felt Lost, despair, no sense of what to do or when or why. For a while I was eating fast food in my truck alone, watching Paul Harrell on YouTube. His passing had another layer of sadness because of this. I eventually moved to going to the gym. Setting goals for weight loss, increasing my engagement in hobbies. Planning activities for the next time I …

Standard for looks for me if anything lower, although I’m in better physical shape now. Standards for personality and behavior are higher. No “I can fix this” ever again. At all.

If I sounded harsh I didn’t mean to. I went through most of the same shit and earned some grey hair 🧑‍🦳 n the process but my hairline stayed the same 😂. I’ve been just over 3 years out and tried dating briefly, found it to be a dumpster fire (I live in a rural area too so individual experience etc). I have found my peace is worth so much more than anything else. So I do wish you the best of luck with all of it.

If you’re thinking grass is greener, it’s not. Leave your marriage if it’s bad but expect to pay child support and don’t expect to date. You may eventually date if you’re above average in height and looks but dating is bleak. Especially in your 30s and 40s with kids.

True. There’s always missing info and context but if he’s serious and a good parent an appeal is a must.

File an appeal. Don’t give up hope. Keep being a good Dad. I am truly sorry this happened to you and wish you the best in its resolution.

I’m genuinely sorry to hear all that. Over time it will become better and your kids will make it worth it.

That’s probably spot on for 2 kids and your income.

Yeah. I think a lot of go there. Find something to live and work for that’s not related to your marriage. You’re about to be set free to do anything you want. Don’t waste those years of freedom on ending yourself. Divorce will suck but trust me there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Besides location I could have written this and had it be true to almost every detail. Talk to a lawyer. Get your self clear and focus on yourself and self improvement and being a good dad.

Emails or letters. However I would be more concerned with fighting your ex legally to see them now.

I’m 33 and I’m the end stage of divorce, I’m rebuilding my life from the ground up after this. Absolutely no way will I ever get married again if I ever even date again. I can’t rebuild again or go through this again. No way.

Every time anyone mentions online or in person dating after divorce both the negative and positive stories make me more sure I’ll never date again.

This. So many people don’t get it and I can’t even explain it so well as you did here.

This answer alone just proves more of a point about why romance is dead.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
