3	What is the proper way to handle this situation with a girl? Don't worry about not being invited to the party man, if you want to see this girl go to the bar. I'd ask her where she's going and give her a 'maybe I can make it.' Then I'd show up and just hit on her friends. All in all I think you're framing for this situation is off. Read up on stoicism and the abundance mentality. I've never had a girl tell me I've been a really good friend and then hook up with me later.
