-1	Does the title ix sex discrimination law apply to grants? I mean it’s not a male-female argument. Affirmative action is everywhere, and it’s meant to help minorities. We see affirmative action for black people, Hispanics, international students, etc. In filmmaking in particular, women are an underrepresented minority. And money is a motivator. Maybe the grants are there because the people who supply the money are interested in female perspectives which aren’t often seen? -1	Does the title ix sex discrimination law apply to grants? I think grants aimed towards women has something to do with underrepresentation in the workforce. I’m sure you’ve seen the stats where in Hollywood women are 10% of directors and 20% of writers, 20% of producers etc. I think the hope is that with grants, more women will enter the workforce to ~diversify~ . This also isn’t true, I’ve known women that were raped that have been told they should take their rape as a compliment since someone thought they were attractive enough to be raped in the first place... I’ve also seen this argument used online towards female victims of rape that aren’t considered conventionally attractive. The numbers for male victims of rape are higher than originally thought due to “being made to penetrate” not counting as rape but as other sexual violence. 23.4% of men experience other forms of sexual violence while 43.9% of women experience other sexual violence (women can be made to penetrate during rape as well).
