It is true that speaking out about sexual violence (and providing counseling/ shelters) against men faces big hurdles due to normative expectations of masculinity. However, I fail to understand how standing up for women, who have historically been “put in their place”, and spreading awareness about sexual/domestic violence against men are mutually exclussive. You feel collectively victimized as soon as there is a campaign to highlight sexual violence against women. Sexual violence, whether committed by men or by women, is a heinous crime. But take a step back and look at what feminism has (and tried to/still tries to) achieve over the past 100 years or so. It’s entirely possible to empower women WITHOUT demonizing and tearing down men. Absue is never justified, whether it’s commited by men or women.
