You're 100% right, but a child depends on it's mother as well, and if neglect of a child is illegal, and IF fetuses have the same rights as children, then an argument can absolutely be made that it's illegal to do so to a fetus as well. The bodily autonomy argument is double-sided and doesn't work with abortion Firstly, it's not really part of their body. A fetus inherits DNA from both its mother and its father. In every sense, it's a distinct object inside of the body, but not part of it. Secondly, does the fetus not have the right to live if it wanted to ?
