Definitely a symptom of extremely nice behavior. I've learnt this lesson the hard way. Looking back I can't believe I got to 6 months. The CEO was a master manipulator masquerading as a fumbling fool. I've found that a milestone approach with dates for delivery and payment go over well with clients. I've yet to ask for a 50% deposit but framing it as sharing the risk is the key. Have you had a client completely balk at you for asking 50% upfront?
