Definitely understand where you're coming from, 90 days in the grand scheme of things is very minuscule. I believe, ideally, it would be what you're comfortable with but I guess 90 days being a minimum time frame - as some people, due to societal conditioning/other factors/etc,, don't value giving any vetting time period.

Very well put 💛

physicality is important, but I feel in society physicality and sex is equated with the 'bond' we long for - when that bond is actually formed through meaningful relationship (i.e. emotional, spiritual, intellectual compatibility). Also, this would be a reason to vet for 90 days before sex to form this bond

I teared up reading this, it really helps that you can relate to a childhood of abuse and poverty. Thank you for sharing your experience, strength, and hope - it's helped more than words can express.

Thank you so much, I really like how you put that. I guess I'm scared to tell him the past or for him to know everything. I really appreciate your feedback. I didn't realize how much these things affected me still.

Thank you so much for the advice - I appreciate it, I do have a long term trusted therapist but I'm going to let her know I want to focus on these feelings and working thru them more.

Absolutely love this! 'the future wives/girlfriends' one is 100% the last two guys I dated. I love this subreddit!

yep, pretty sure my mom his also BPD... I also left that situation when I was ending high school - turned 17 and started living with friends/boyfriends but will honestly say I had a 'pick me' mentality probably up until recently. Just thought it was normal for relationships since it's the example I had witnessed my whole life, super happy to find this subreddit and hear experiences just like this to confirm that they're abnormal and wrong.

thanks for sharing this, I can relate to this and makes me feel better that other people have had similar experiences with awful pick me mothers

can confirm from experience... my mother is a pick me and doesn't believe me and I've had to cut contact with her, she convinced her whole side of the family including my brother that I was lying about sexual abuse that her boyfriend did - worst part = she's still with the guy

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
