THIS !!!! I’m just trying to give food for thought so that women are counting the cost of these choices. It’s not meant to discourage or even persuade. Thank you for this take.

And THIS is the perspective I was trying to bring but perhaps not worded in the best way.

I gave OP solid advice based on real life experiences of how assumed expectations and assumed agreements can impact a marriage and how she handles her role as a SAHM. I disagree that I discouraged her from becoming such. I’m giving her the blueprint to excel at such and win. I’m giving her what others didn’t give me because none of them were married or at home. Not sure how that’s being interpreted as something negative. I don’t think you’re comprehending my sentiments on preparation and being e…

Are you a SAHM ? If so , what things from your upbringing do you feel contributed to you taking care of your home well ? What mindsets or attitudes supported your role well? I didn’t say it can’t be done, I just said what would be beneficial. A working mother does not tend to all the needs of all her children round the clock. Telling working women that these roles are similar is a sure way to set them up for failure. It is very hard to be a CONTENT SAHM. Again, you have to groom yourself for suc…

“How do I make sure we’re on the same page” This is what bothers me about us as women. We hear what a man says and choose to not hear or accept it. This man is clearly telling you what he WANTS. You are NOT on the same page. What you’re asking is how to MAKE him submit to your will. I was a SAHM and I’m now back in the work force. The role is something you can’t just say you want before marriage but you have to be equipped and groomed for the responsibilities that come with managing a home with …

I noticed that when asked about your sex life you say it’s great. I do want to caution you that everything feels great in the initial stages of a relationship. But what will that desire and attraction feel like once you live together? Once you’ve seen him at his worst or lowest? Once kids and other responsibilities begin to compete for time? That’s when the TRUTH begins to unravel. Like others have stated, physical attraction will fluctuate over the course of a long term relationship. But when t…

Y’all really need to get off this internet and stop forcing certain narratives onto yourselves. What made that young guy “alpha” ? The sex? Because it definitely isn’t character or money at EIGHTEEN. You met someone you’re strongly attracted to and you’re GRIEVING that loss. Women AND men go through this all the time. This is life. It sounds like you haven’t properly grieved this situation and perhaps your body is bringing attention to it now for that reason. Based in the time line given you jum…

My husband proposed after 7 months. We’re still married over a decade later. We’re both believers and he was 29 and I was 21 at the time. We met at church. We both had a history of relationship trauma and knew that we were ready to make radical changes in our lives. One thing I can say I know from conversation with my husband is that you can’t MAKE a man want to marry you. He just has to be READY. When he’s ready and encounters a woman that carries the characteristics of a wife he becomes locked…

I’ve BEEN here. My first time experience was a mess because I didn’t see it coming and at the time it was known that I was abstinent and waiting for the right one. The resentment and bitterness turned me into someone I never expected. I acted recklessly with my body made very compromising decisions and it wasn’t too long before the backed up emotional effects and trauma I was trying to escape came crashing down on me. Here’s what changed things. My worth isn’t tied to my virginity I needed to fo…

I agree with this to an extent. But the reason why I’d lean to say this isn’t alpha widowhood is that though it carries all the familiar effects, she was able to see her current partner as being more masculine and attractive. Meaning she felt strong physical and sexual attraction for her current partner. When it comes to being an alpha widow, attraction feels like a disconnected WiFi. You know you should be able to feel attraction for the man before you but you can’t feel it. Desire becomes a th…

Article states: “Men’s obsession with pornography is a good illustration of this, but it is reflective of the differences in our evolved mating strategies developed in our ancestral past. Men found it necessary to breed quickly and then move out – ejaculate and evacuate.” What scientific evidence is there to support this ? There’s more evidence to support men building COMMUNITY around their mating strategies than there is the idea that men roamed around the earth having sex with random women the…

It’s as if you’ve lived my life. I’ve done a lot of self work and one thing I can tell you is that understanding how your brain works is so helpful when trying your figure out how to regulate. In example, I heavily resonate with the “safe space” you mentioned. I realized that my mind wired the memory and feel of that safety into my psyche to be used as a coping mechanism whenever I was in a state of distress. In other words, I escaped to that place with him for comfort but also for survival. You…
