I hear your experience but then you should understand this point pretty clearly... Fighting is dangerous, because you're putting your physical abilities against someone else's. If they're bigger or stronger, that's really dangerous. How is running different? Running is straight physical pursuit. Fighting brings in skills, leverage, cleverness, dirty tricks, pain deterrence, improvised weapons, etc. Make a list of people you can beat up. Then make a list of those you can outrun. Do you think thos…

Look I don't think you understand violence and that's a great thing. You've enjoyed a life of safety and most people have. Since this comment thread began, I've actually achieved an instructor rank so, yes absolutely run if you can but you simply won't always be able to. What if you're out at ice cream with some kids in your life? What if running means leaving your romantic partner? What if the attacker is way taller or runs faster than you? 100% agree, I've done dozens but favored krav maga, muay thai, and bjj. After doing it over 20 years, I can't imagine any other activity or hobby improving confidence as much as genuinely being able to defend yourself. It's unparalleled. Everybody has their thing of course, but anybody reading, you deserve to experience this kind of confidence. Definitely worth a try.

yeah ... but honestly dude, someday you might have to protect yourself or another. I don't think dancing builds the same kind of unshakeable confidence that learning to fight does. What do you do if someone attacks you? Fights happen everyday. What do you do if you're one of the unfortunate few to be targeted by a real serial killer? You can of course say these things are rare, and they are--doesn't help those who encounter it. But it's not really about likelihood, it's about confidence. Dancing…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
