If everyone followed the rules of this book we'd live in some weird fucking society where every kisses everyones ass and apologizes for everything. But no I don't agree it sets you up to be a nice guy. A nice guy expects to be rewarded for kind words and good behavior, mostly in the form of female attention and pussy. This book teaches you how to be a good listener and have some general social skills that apply well in the business world, although it's a bit dated.

In my experience some girls like texting and some girls don’t so it’s up to you to gauge their interest in texting. But the number one thing to remember is not to overdo it. If things were going well you should have asked her on a date during the peak of your conversation and left it as that.
