I understand that. Still, there's a big difference between sentencing for kidnapping and attempted murder instead of for abduction and GBH, especially when the notion of abduction as a crime of passion, given that it can hardly be done impulsively, is difficult to understand.

Abducting. Kidnapping is abduction for monetary gain. And oddly enough, the penalty for the two crimes is different. Damned if I know why.
