That relationship taught me that there is no such thing as objectivity if the subject involves you. You think you are being fair and reasonable, but you wouldn't say the same if it was someone else. Your first point is correct. I met plenty of marines that were ignorant or naive. I was one of them. I also went through all the other mentioned stuff and learned a lot about people, society, and the nature of reality. To me feminism is one side of the coin, men's lib being the other. I am a humanist egalitarian and feminism is part of that. Men and women do have biological differences, but the societal roles of each are just that, societal. Everyone should have equal opportunity and rights.

The wage gap isn't a fallacy, it's just a lot more complicated than saying that women make 78% of what a man makes. It doesn't take into account differing factors. There's an entire field of study dedicated to the wage gap and what they have deduced is that if you control for all variables, it is about 4-7%. The problem is that, as a teacher, she is in a position of power over them. If sex between a student and teacher allowed under any circumstance, then it could be used to manipulate the system either way. Because the legal precedent has been firmly established that the burden of proof lies with the man to prove it wasn't rape. If he simply admits they had sex, it doesn't matter if he says it was consensual. If she says it wasn't, then she is automatically assume he's guilty, unless he can prove his innocence.

I just can't reconcile this. I agree that someone can't give consent when they are drugged out of their mind and he shouldn't have agreed to have sex with her. But he AGREED to it. As in she proposed it and he merely conceded.
