Okay, but I've commented a lot on r/soccer, from that you would probably infer that I like soccer. I haven't commented on r/hockey though, so you could probably infer that I'm more likely to talk to other people about soccer than hockey. If I was talking to someone who for some reason really didn't want to date a soccer fan, I'd probably accidentally slip up and say something to suggest I was a soccer fan, or use a bit of terminology from soccer, thus ruining my chances. If I was to talk to some…

We're all in quarantine, and the way we've each spent that time is probably indicative of other aspects of our behaviour.

If that's the case, fair enough. Personally though I don't think I could spend the amount of time you do on the subreddits you do and separate that enough from my day-to-day interactions for it not to impact the way I interacted with women I was interested in someway, even if I wasn't fully cognizant of it, maybe you can but it would surprise me.

It's not so much about being socially awkward as it is about being natural vs performative in your behaviour. All my good relationships have come about by accident, so if you're approaching women solely because you believe they're less attractive and you have a chance the situation is manufactured which isn't as conducive to naturally forming a relationship.

Didn't want to imply your personality as a whole was the problem there. What I'm trying to say is that when I was low on confidence etc like you seem to be I was very self-aware when talking to women i was interested in and I was less able to hold a natural conversation than I would be with someone else. If you're having a similar experience I think the psychological impact of perceiving yourself to be ugly could be more damaging to your chances than your actual level of physical attractiveness …

Honestly I'm not the most attractive guy in the world but I'm not bad looking, I've generally been successful with women. However I went through a long spell of getting rejected by any woman I went near after I went through one bad breakup and ended up down/low on confidence/frankly a little desperate, this lasted around a year. So, in my experience a bad personality is enough to effectively remove you from the dating market, and being not ugly is not enough to guarantee success. This is all jus…

Given that two of us managed to interpret it that way it would seem like it's an easy enough misunderstanding to make. I'm sure you can work out why I thought you seemed resentful toward women given that your message seemed to read that way.

"It's not only high school but all of life lol. High school is just a bit of it." This comment right here is part of the reply chain to the comment I'm referencing. You only said this 30 minutes ago, if you're this forgetful is it possible that you actually have the fulfilling relationship you crave and she's just wandered into the other room for a minute?

Okay sorry my bad you must have thrown me when you said women have it easier in "literally all of life". Maybe you could explain what areas women have it harder in which fall outside the rubric of "literally all of life"?

Look I understand what you're getting at, but how can you expect a woman to respect/love you when you go around resenting them because you think they have it easier than you? The need to "one-up" other people and say you have it worse than them suggests a lack of empathy. Would you really want to be with someone who thought you had it easy, and all your problems paled in comparison to their own?

Life is always going to feel hard when you have a victim complex.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
