Here in E.Europe it's quite common especialy in rural areas that several generations live together and older generations help younger ones, cause there's a very good saying "I won't take it (wealth) into my grave", while in the US it seems the older they get the more "fuck em, I'll spend as much as I can and they can sue each other to hell and back for what's left".
