I never understood the purpose of that line. When you are in a position that you feel comfortable enough to ask, why not just go for it? Why ask her? I know it's framed as though you think she wants to kiss you, but what makes it better than just going in?

"What does your schedule look like this week?" vs. "Do you want to grab a drink at X Bar this Saturday night?" This is a tough one. I understand your point about not looking too available, but I feel that it gives you both a degree of flexibility. I usually start with "I'd like to see you again, what do you say we ___".
