I'm sincerely sorry you live in such a society. But I hope that you know most of the developed world isn't like that. Most of us don't need to resort to selling our blood, eggs or sperm or other body parts to pay for school. IN fact, we can't resort to it because it's illegal, LOL. (I know some young women sell their eggs and I think it's insane because A. those drugs have no long-term studies on their safety in young, healthy, fertile women. B. $3000 is way, way too low for what they have to go…

As to your other point, I am not telling someone what they can or cannot do with their own body I'm saying you cannot GET PAID for doing that. You can still do it, for free. I'm comfortable with that limit because I truly believe that having that limit in place protects us all. In countries were prostitution is legal for example, like Amsterdam, or in states where surrogacy is legal, like California, you can see how extremely exploitative it ends up being. In Amsterdam, for example, it's virtual…

I believe I explained the reasoning...human beings are not endpoints. Our bodies cannot be used toward an end. I don't believe in the commodification of the body. When the body is commodified its exploitative and dangerous. The poorest and more vulnerable among us are the ones who have to sell their body in various ways for money and we should not condone that. You literally proved my point by this example....poor students are the ones having to sell their blood to pay for textbooks. That's 'eff…

I understand that there was and is a lot of social pressure for women but I feel today it's almost the reverse where if you WANT to be a wife and mother without working for a wage it's looked down upon.

Just to be clear, I'm against paid-for, commercial surrogacy not altruistic surrogacy, where someone is doing it for free because they know you or have a big heard(like a sister or a close friend). Very few countries in the world allow paid-for or commercial surrogacy, actually. Canada, China, European countries and Scandinavia all outlaw it and for good reason. California is one of the few states that allow commercial surrogacy. I don't consider it harsh at all. Women's uteri are not for sale. …

Because human beings should not be used as means to an end. Your body is not meant to be sold. I am also against paying someone to use their kidney or uterus. I don't want to live in a society where it is legal and "approved" of to sell and buy the human body.

They CAN do whatever they want, and I can also do what I want, as in, think that'it's wrong and advocate for it to be illegal.

No. I think it's very different for everyone. Some women look honestly fantastic at 55. French men think women only become interested after 40. If a women takes care of herself she can be sexy and alluring at any age. If a women becomes obese and is a smoker ad has a bad personality she can look bad at 30.

Are you kidding? Most women in porn are human trafficking victims or have been victims of sexual abuse. Even Jenna Jameson was gang raped when she was younger. According to anti-trafficking nonprofit, Rescue:Freedom, in 9 countries, 49% of sexually exploited women said that pornography was made of them while they were being sold for sex. -https://fightthenewdrug.org/by-the-numbers-porn-sex-trafficking-connected/ -https://blog.theexodusroad.com/porn-and-human-trafficking-the-facts-you-need-to-kno…

Men and women are too tired from work to do 50% of the house work. A household works best when you have division of labour, or earn enough money to outsource labour. I think you're over simplifying things. Even before the sexual revolution women could and did go to university and work. If their husband was abusive they could divorce him.

Women achieved most autonomy financially and judicially before the sexual revolution. We could vote and own property before the sexual revolution, which was in the 1960s.We also could divorce our spouses. Just no fault divorce was introduced in around the 1970s. I think you're confusing the timeline of feminism.Everything is a trade-offWith the sexual revolution men got access to easy and cheap sex, and women got more opportunity in the workforce. Both *edit* "lost* the stable nuclear familiy.

Despite this, I fully support the "sexual revolution". I fully support people who have casual sex, who send sexy pics, who have an Onlyfans. I support consensual polygamy, porn, strippers. If someone says they feel empowered by being gang banged in front of a camera then they have my full support! They don't have my full support. They are using their body as a commodity. Human beings should not be bought or sold.

Huh? Are you being sarcastic? Of course women could and DID work before feminism. Literally for millennia before women worked..on their farms, selling stuff at market and even as midwifes, teachers and professionals They also weren't property. Perhaps some women were considered akin to property in Christian Europe but women were freerer in other parts of the world. Also...not ALL men could vote, just the one's who owned land. So in most of history NEITHER men or women could vote.. and when they …

You could always have an abortion but not a successful, safe abortion. The pill is what enabled the sexual revolution to happen and morals to change.

I totally agree. The technology of the pill was one of the only reasons that the sexual revolution could occur. Otherwise the consequences were too great.

Yes. I do feel betrayed. The sexual revolution has primarily benefitted men from what I can see. While most women want to experiment a bit, and have a few casual encounters for fun ultimately most (of course not all) women want to find a partner, be in a committed relationship and have a family. The culture has degraded to the point where "hooking up" or casual sexual encounters have in many ways REPLACED relationships, especially in teens and 20s. Women are expected and encouraged to "sow their…

But the idea of building a team. Someone to rely on. Someone to push through together with. Maybe... just maybe once lust wore off... love was a decision you made. One that made you stronger, together. Supporting, and kind. Just because it didn't work out with this one girl (that you had an open relationship with so it doesn't seem like either of you were relying on each other or into team building? Open relationships don't foster this kind of strong team.) doesn't mean that this is a lie. Most …

Well we can just look at statistics: men are almost always the ones leaving because only 16% of lone parent families are headed by mean. That means the vast majority of single parents are women. But it takes two to have a kid...why are the men not sticking around? It could be that the women are awarded custody in some cases, but it's also highly likely that the men, in most cases, are just leaving While it's true that women initiate divorce, most births today happen outside of marriage all toget…

The men that had the child did not want to be locked down, although he had a part in the child's conception, but what makes it any different than when women do it? It doesn't make it any different. It's just that men are almost always the ones leaving. So it's unfair to blame women for being single moms when the REASON they are single moms is because the men disappear.

But that's only in cases where women are married. Plenty of women and men have children outside of wedlock now. In those cases where on earth do the men go? You almost never (or rarely...at least I haven't seen it) see moms run off to leave dad's with the full responsibility of child rearing.

It takes two people to make a child...men are just as much responsible as the women. The question isn't why there's so many single mothers it's where the hell are these fathers?! Occasionally it may be B, but more often it's that the man just does not stick around at all.

It could also be that Canada has free healthcare and robust sexual education, including abortions...so women who get pregnant without a committed dad in the picture have a really easy time not ending a single mom. I think the better question to ask is why are there so many single dads? Why are dads not sticking to their moms and kids? Where are they going? Why are they so flakey?

I completely agree with this! It's so important for women (and men) to put in the effort to remain attractive to each other. Clothes have gotten sooo slobby in the last few decades. I also just feel better about life when I put in effort. I think tight yoga clothes work because they are comfy but kinda sexy at the same time. And personally I am not the type of girl to every wake up and NOT put on at least some makeup to make me look alive.

She is engaged (or maybe married now) to an Austrian guy named Martin Sellner -- they are both alt-right activists (He runs a group called Generation Identity) and the UK denied them entry. I actually liked her videos and then started Googling her and it just really creeped me out to know that her ideas on feminism/womanhood potentially stem from a neo-nazi ideology. (The Nazi's put out a ton of propoganda idealizing women as mothers, to populate an aryan race). Here's some more info: https://ww…

Honestly, it's terrifying. That being said, I know many women in their late 30s who did get engaged (I'm 31 so I just don't know anyone in their 40s really) but they chose from people who chose them. Even as Lori Gottlieb was writing the book and getting coached, she still seemed unable to recognize her market worth, and also totally unable to choose what was actually valuable long-term in a partner. I wonder if she's married now?

This is the best book! I've given it to so many friends! I think the most important thing it says is to figure out what's important to you (like a nice, supportive caring marraige minded husband) and give up the bullshit that doesn't matter to family life ( hotness, shared common interests). It's brutally honest and gets such an unfair flack from the media but its message is just common sense: it's better to find a good man and settle down early, rather than hold out for some idea of true love a…
