I’ve thought a lot about this, and think that it goes even deeper. It may be my depression talking, but I don’t think love exists. I think it does for family, kids. But romantic love doesn’t exist. It’s infatuation, chemicals & hormones that fool us into thinking we’re in love. But we’re not. It fades.

My wife and I nearly divorced during the pandemic. Early on. But we have kids. We haven’t had sex in almost 2 years. I don’t like her at all. I told myself not to initiate anything until she felt like she wanted to. She hasn’t. Is he the breadwinner? He may be stressed out and tired of performing for the world and therefore also doesn’t want to perform for you.

He loves you, but he doesn’t like you AT ALL. Ask yourself why, and then change.

Some similarities here to my situation. She hasn’t agreed to counseling on my end so you have that on me. The rest though. Frigidness, narcissistic tendencies etc. I’ve basically decided just to work on myself and take care of the kids. I can’t try to make her happy any more. She has to find that on her own.

It’s sad to allow that destroy a marriage. And yet here we are. My situation is not an emergency. I’m curious to see if things go back to “normal” once I’m back in the office. But we might just be broken.

I hear you. I’m around so much from the pandemic that we just grind each other down and there’s no escape. I’m not perfect by any means, but lord I do not deserve to be treated like this.

This sounds really close to my situation. Wife is constantly on edge with me. The smallest imperfection sends her off a cliff. We have two kids under 8. She’s verbally abusive toward me. No matter how hard I try it’s not enough. She said she was done. Didn’t say happy birthday on my birthday. I asked her if she wanted to do counseling, she said no. I asked her to talk about how we design a life where she’s happy, I’m happy and the kids are healthy. She said “figure it out.” I’m the breadwinner, …

Pretty similar to my situation. I call it living on her last nerve. The tiniest imperfection sets her off. We used to fight when this would happen, but now I’m just numb. She killed who I used to be. Now I’m only here for the kids, to try to provide some balance to her intensity. I think it stems from having a “yelly” single mother herself. She’s never seen a successful marriage up close. She doesn’t understand the difference between our roles in the house. She just bludgeons people close to her…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
