How long have you guys stayed single?I got divorced, waited about that year and a half, and I’m pretty sure it’s going right back down the shitter again. I’m pretty sure this was my last go at it all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/03/24 04:04 AM
Unsettled WatersWow, that's awesome, thank you for following up and sending that. Really eye-opening. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 03:39 PM
Unsettled Waters"light switch effect" that's a really good word for it. I am trying not to go anywhere in my head because of my anxiety. Not trying to figure out "well is she making it up?" Just going to take people at their word from here on out. No subtext reading/body language/catastrophizing. Just what they tell me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 12:57 AM
Unsettled WatersI would not necessarily disagree with you, but she was raped and never had a relationship with the father of the child. Everyone has their own story, she may be a few choice words to some people but I truly don't think she had ill intentions. She never wanted another kid, you may be right a lot of the time but maybe not this one. All that being said, yeah, I'll probably be taking it a lot slower dating single moms in the future. I want to be sure before I risk basically losing another child agai… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 12:48 AM
Unsettled WatersIt's crazy, if nothing else how similar the mindset I have to yours is. It's probably because no one in my life has gone through it but everyone around me is just telling me how mad I should be at her. Honestly, I shoulda ended it, like you said. At least she released me from my hell of ignoring all the red flags. I'll check it out for sure, I've tried a couple. Mostly to do with my anxiety, but none of the podcasts have really stuck. I'm trying to cycle an hour every morning and as much as I lo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 12:45 AM
Unsettled WatersNeither of us have much of anything, we both have close to zero debt and the house gained very minimal value in the year we had it. I'd venture to guess if I "went after" everything it might be 5k. The extra time and lawyer fees associated with going after that, probably isn't worth it to me. That all being said, I do need to take it more seriously and get it done. So I do really appreciate the advice. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 12:26 AM
Unsettled WatersI don't even know where to begin, but the time and effort that you put into this, just, thank you. I think part of the problem for me is, strangely, no one in my family has really gone through this. Everyone has stayed married, pretty happily from my perspective, and I was the first in my group of friends to be married. So I guess I feel a little bit on an island especially when I'm going to wedding after wedding for my friends now. For the past month or so I realized I was trying to get better … | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/22 11:58 PM
Unsettled WatersTrying not to waste it. And yeah no kids with her, but one I committed too like they were mine. But no legal claim? Yay? But I know I'm "fortunate" comparatively. Doesn't make a huge difference to me though. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/22 11:29 PM
