The no true Scotsman I guess. I don't think you understand the fallacy. I was talking about America. The United States? Compared to people of other races black girls are more likely to come from single parent homes and black men make up most of the prison population. Black people also in general have a lower IQ than white people. ...and I guess all of this makes up "black girls' culture"? Hilarious.

I don't think too positively of black chicks. I think their culture plays a huge role into it. Won't comment too much on it. Aside from your already ridiculous categorizations of women around the world (brown chicks playing some revenge fantasy?), I just want to point out that there are over 500 million black women in the world hailing from many nations and thousands of different "cultures." The fact you think they come from "one" culture is beyond idiotic.

You just changed your argument. In your original statement, you did not specify "Western culture." Disingenuous.

I mean, that's what you feminists believe, right? You have a right to keep anyone, even a husband, from having sex with you, right? And you don't have to explain it AT ALL. WTF is wrong with you? It's like you're on autopilot in your responses. Take a moment to actually read what people are writing here.

I think the guy buying the engagement ring is his sign of commitment I see -- I didn't understand that because my cultural tradition is different and I don't particularly think engagement rings mean anything. I think creating a new name together would just mean that both people would be sacrificing. Fair enough. I am incredibly unattached to my last name, but I can certainly see how many people want to stay connected to theirs.

Some of symbolic value with no actual practical impact, versus something that is practical. Exactly. And it's interesting to see so many folks running away from the practical because it "feels good" to have someone take their name. Ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/15 05:08 PM

Why not just make up a new name together? That would show commitment from you both.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/15 05:06 PM

For example, Jane Smith and John Jones becoming Team Jones. Why not just merge the two names and create an entirely new name to represent the union? Hone is a common English last name... Since women generally are the ones seeking commitment and marriage is the ultimate form of commitment by a man That's just your opinion, though.

"I don't feel comfortable with you taking my last name" I'd ask why. He'd need to communicate a reason. FWIW, I'd be vehemently opposed to him taking my last name, but would explain exactly why. It's about mutual respect and understanding generated from being in a relationship in which partners communicate with one another. "I don't feel you've earned the right to have my last name," Why are we getting married, then? The whole point of marriage (in my mind) is the bonding of two people into one …

He doesn't want you to have his name. It's his identity, not yours. I actually think this is a rational reason, though. In your first scenario, the fiance wasn't this clear; he was very much "Fuck you, you can't have my name." If he told me, "I think we should have separate last names because I believe taking another's last name clouds identity", that would be A-okay with me. I wouldn't want to take my fiance's last name. And I wouldn't want him to take mine. If we're creating a new family unit,…

I am actually "no pill". And I'm not being "pedantic". Reddit, especially subreddits such as PPD, is multinational/multiethnic, but a common habit I see with many folks here (no matter the "pill") is to view the world in strictly U.S. terms and to extrapolate their beliefs onto all cultures and societies. People exist beyond the States. Taken from the article you linked: Appearance matters a great deal. The customers who reported encounters to the website we analysed clearly value the stereotypi…

Virtually all men want thin/good looking women How does a study implemented only in the United States equate to "virtually all men"?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/15 03:35 PM

Then do the considerate thing and shave or trim your pubes. Are there people who really don't groom themselves anyway? At some point in their lives, women need to groom themselves by trimming, but not necessarily shaving themselves entirely bald.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/15 10:38 PM

Although I would still probably be less likely to eat out a woman who didn't shave down there for obvious reasons. Do you mean completely shaven like a young girl or are you referring to grooming?

Ever kiss a guy and some of your head hair ends up in both your mouths? This has actually never happened to me. My hair is braided, though, so maybe that is why. and if it's been a long day, wet pubes usually smell pretty bad. LOL, everything smells bad after a long day. Anyway, thanks for answering my question.

This intrigues me so much...I do not understand men who are turned off by pubic hair. It is literally the marker that women are not babies. Does your boyfriend watch a lot of porn? Maybe it's a remnant from that...or maybe it's cultural.

As an Asian dude, its not like I'm sitting in the most desirable category (cultural influence and genetics aside). I win nothing by going on PPD and complaining about it. I win by putting in work to better myself, which is attractive and healthy. Exactly this.

well then why aren't darkskinned people extinct in Africa if this preference for lighter skin is so true? why do I exist? Okay, while I don't agree with how hysterical your writing is, I need to step in and say that user above is merging two distinct preferences (biologically based and culturally based) into one. What he is talking about is the preference for lighten skin within a specific ethnic/cultural group, but you're talking about the preference, even within some parts of the black communi…

Then, I think we are saying the same thing. But I still think using this science in response to what OP is lamenting creates a weird link between the two that is unnecessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/15 09:22 PM
1

Yes, but I believe you're reading the data wrong. The data is explaining and referencing sexual dimorphism between female and males as it relates to skin color. This difference, which is significant, but not incredibly so, occurs because of the calcium levels needed by females for pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am not arguing that there is no scientific data or evidence that shows a preference for fairer skin. However, I am arguing that the extreme preferences, and the preferences for skin that …

I'm saying it based on things I've read and the actual trend in who dates who race-wise, nothing more. But I think you've actually misunderstood what you've read. Can you post some of the studies you've read?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/15 08:51 PM

think that fairer skin, lighter hair and lighter eyes are indicative of youth. Within each "racial" group, this is true. Women are usually lighter than men, but the difference is not a Jay-Z/Beyonce difference. When you start seeing differences and preferences like that within one culture or "racial group", then that is not biological.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/15 08:50 PM

You're being really selective about what you choose to understand. It's really simple if you take a deep breath and reflect on the reality at hand: There are those out there who will not give a black woman the time of day because they have been fed the eurocentric standard of beauty. For some folks, when they meet a black woman who breaks the "unattractive" mold for them personally, instead of realizing that perhaps they hold stereotypical views of typical black female attractiveness, they say, …

You really, really need to work on your self-esteem. Who gives AF if people are falling over themselves for white or light-skinned women? Do you travel? Have you gone to college, yet? Are you looking for jobs outside of where you currently live and/or experienced this anti-dark skin negativity? Europeans arriving to Western Africa, guns ablaze and kidnapping clueless Africans from their villages and towns is a ridiculous notion I'm surprised still holds weight in the age of better scholarship concerning the TransAtlantic slave trade and Google. Most slaves became slaves the typical way: their kings/chiefs or rulers neighboring clans, states or kingdoms sold them into slavery. I do not want to derail this conversation into one about slavery, but it's cringeworthy how folks just say thin…

Did you even look at the stats? I read and digested the information. My response is to the implied notion that black women selected white men at the exclusion of their own "race". Though black women responded back least to black men, the highest response rate was not to white men. It looks like Pacific Islanders took that spot. Its really amusing. Okay.

Exactly. And I think this is the real issue: some Indian men have fallen into the well-laid trap of thinking white women = all women. And it's quite sad, actually. Media, especially Western Media, is incredibly eurocentric and seriously impacts the way we view "beauty" in our society. That a guy (down thread) would write he wouldn't even consider dating a black woman because he's never been attracted to those who don't look like Beyonce (top 001%)? That's ridiculous. There are nearly 526 million…
