I feel the same damn way. I’ve learned so much over the last 5 years or so. Experiences I would have rather skipped. So many very uncomfortable truths. I have to step it down at work otherwise I’d be a tyrant to these people. I’d get to finally relinquish my confidence, sure... but at the expense of being perceived as a huge asshole. That’s because everyone you encounter probability has the common decency not to abruptly criticize your appearance in public. Good for them, but that doesn’t mean their mindset isn’t somewhere else. I don’t really see it escalating that far. However this whole episode did definitely serve as an irl learning lesson. The stories you see on the forums like this one are one thing.
