I suggest that you don't judge people intelligence based on random gaps in their knowledge. You very likely have some gaps yourself, which doesn't mean you're dumb, just that you didn't happen to learn those pieces of information. I myself am Very Smart, but I only relatively recently learned that caramel is just burned sugar. It had never crossed my mind!

It's not most, but it's almost 30% (wives outearning husbands, not single mothers). I doubt that they weren't outearning these men before they married them.

Not necessarily. If you predict that your kids would regret it, then maybe (though I would think twice about that premise). My greater point was that if it's immoral to create new life in 2022, then it was also immoral to do so at any previous point in history and prehistory. I realize that some people do actually believe that, but most seem to focus on the supposedly terrible present, even though by historical standards it's not terrible at all.

It is literally the best world that has ever existed. If you don't regret being born, then your kids probably won't either.

I think cheating is very bad and don't want to make excuses for it; that being said, the fact that he got fired for it is concerning. Isn't that kind of an invasion of privacy? EDIT: nvm apparently the reason for firing was the fact that his relationship was with a subordinate, not infidelity

All is fair in love and war. Ever heard of the Geneva Convention? And yes, countries to follow it - not 100%, but they don't violate it at every opportunity, either.

Most of my male friends are pretty cynical and "autistic" and it's hard to talk to them about emotions, art, relationships, meaning of life, etc. because they laugh everything off. My female friends take these things more seriously. As for you - if you aren't a 100% macho man's man, then it's likely that you have some stereotypically feminine interests. Need some advice on fashion, cooking, photography, knitting, soap operas? She's your girl.

I'm pretty sure many of them have actual credentials from real academic institutions. You may think those credentials shouldn't be valid, and you may even be right. But just because real idiots exist in the world doesn't make it very productive to call your opponent one.

It's probably not good to call your opponents "pseudoscholars" based on disagreement with their methodology and conclusions.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/17 12:48 PM

TRP puts obstacles for its own understanding by intentionally using offensive, exaggerated, inflammatory, uncharitable or otherwise neutral-audience-unfriendly language. So it's no wonder people come to the "wrong" conclusions about it. I've heard people say that it's a feature, not a bug - a "locker room" environment is supposed to keep out the normies and make sure that only the most intelligent, the most desperate, or otherwise "ready to be unplugged" people stay. Which is... a potentially go…

Feminists claim that injustice against women is too powerful to be defeated without the help of men. You still didn't answer the question. There's nothing in it for me, so why should I do it?

A baby is drowning in a shallow puddle. If I save it, I'll ruin my shoes and trousers. Why should I do it? EDIT: the drowning baby is a famous thought experiment in ethics by Peter Singer. Its point is imagining a situation where you can do great help to another at a small cost to yourself, and the moral implications of helping/not helping. It has nothing to do with women being child-like -- if you like, imagine instead a situation where Superman can save a human adult from being hit by a truck.

That's another discussion altogether. The counter-hypothesis here is this: single parent + loadsamoney = increased risk of criminality disappears. Do you deny this?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/17 11:02 PM

I'm not sure which is more weird. Probably ignoring poverty, since its link to criminality has much more evidence for it (not to mention being pretty obvious on an intuitive level).

How would you quantify someone's pessimism and bitterness? You can't just say "if it didn't work then it means you didn't try hard enough". Also 5 years is a huge time frame for a bet like this. But otherwise it sounds like a good idea. Any volunteers?

You are at right or wrong, I am at different standards. Oh, I see. Moral vs. non-moral judgment. Well, when it comes to the issue of promiscuity and slut shaming, the judgment is indeed of a moral kind. People don't merely say "female promiscuity is unimpressive", they say "female promiscuity is wrong". So yeah, if someone in a group of people who already agree that there's nothing wrong with casual sex were arguing that women should be congratulated for their notches on the belt just as much me…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/17 11:38 PM
1

I said it's not about easy things No you didn't. You say: The root argument is that being promiscuous is not as hard for women as it is for men so not judging them the same is fair. I say that it's not a relevant difference, insisting that actions are right or wrong, regardless of how hard it is to do them. Do you disagree about the midget robber example? Would you say that being a robber is not as hard for regular people as it is for little people so not judging them the same is fair ?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/17 10:45 PM
1

Not an argument.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/17 12:55 PM
1

Mugging an old lady as a regular person is much easier than mugging an old lady as a midget. Should we not shame midget muggers?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/17 10:07 AM
3

Let's just say such a relationship would not be possible under the current laws of physics.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/17 11:19 PM
1

Obviously. But you have to admit that impressiveness has little bearing on the question of whether it's morally wrong for him to rob a bank, which it exactly the point I'm trying to make here.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/17 09:27 PM
1

That doesn't answer my question. Nobody said men and women were the same in every single way. It's just that not every difference is important to the issue at hand. Being promiscuous for men is harder, perhaps. But why is being harder the necessary and sufficient thing to justify men's promiscuity? You wouldn't say that it's not wrong for a disabled person to rob a bank just because it's a harder feat to pull off, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/16 12:10 PM
2

Perhaps. Why is this an important distinction?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/16 12:58 AM

Maybe one day, when leftists extend me that same courtesy, I'll believe they're arguing in good faith. Until then, I can, and will, read between the lines. Someone's gotta start fixing the discourse. Why not you? And what do you mean by "reading between the lines"? You are talking about implications that no other readers are seeing and the authors would deny making. Are you saying that this is what they secretly think? Well so what, if they don't even try to convince their audience that it is so…

Which, of course, implies that these sorts of behaviors are bad. No, it implies that they correlate with bad things, not that they're bad in themselves. Or that being a great artist is bad? I've also noticed that you didn't exactly criticise the study on its own merits. You just called the researchers biased because you didn'…

"microaggressive" Come on. The word used is almost always microagression, which is a noun and denotes an action. You're cheating with this one. Also your post comes off as if implying that consequentialism, deontology and VE are 3 "branches" of ethics - as if a person ought to use all three to find some kind of balance. This is not the case, they are all supposed to be all-encompassing approaches to ethics. Not sure if this is how you think, but your post makes such an impression.

I've heard this logic many times for the last few days. Anti-SJWs, the KKK and Mia Khalifa preferred Trump to Clinton. Trump won. Therefore, anti-SJWs, the KKK and Mia Khalifa are all driving forces in American politics. Please provide empirical evidence that resistance against feminism was actually a deciding factor in the election. And don't cite prominent supporters - for all we know, they could just be vocal minorities.

Affirmative action driving smarter, better-suited men out of jobs and leaving them to less capable women. A school system biased against boys makes it harder for them to contribute, even if they're smart. Anti-male work environments where men have to walk on eggshells to avoid lawsuits. that doesn't erase away the discussion of what influenced the work in the first place and what meaning it had to the people making it I think those are some pretty trivial things, especially the latter. My problem is with you saying that the interpretation would be "just crazy film theory" if we didn't know that both Wachowskis were transgender (which we didn't in 1999) - which is ridiculous because it's still the same movie.

If this wasn't directed by two trans women, this could all just be crazy film theory, but both of them are actually transgender, its kind of hard to deny the influence. THE AUTHOR IS DEAD, PEOPLE You don't need to (nor really can) justify your interpretation of a work of fiction by comparing it to the author's biography. If you see it, it's there; if others don't see it, then you just aren't very good at convincing them.

Getting rejected heaps takes its toll What kind of toll? Many say it numbs them to the pain and helps them get more confidence. Also, being perceived as a ''creep" because you make women uncomfortable takes a toll, socially. It does if you live in a village with 100 people. Why does it matter? Because, depending on your reliability, you could be missing out on a lot of false negatives (as well as wasting time for many false positives). What exactly can a comment thread that discusses another comment thread that discusses a news article can do to help the problem in question?

His comedy is great, but he's liked on TRP for his actual views and advice. Well, why can't TBP do the same? Thread 1: silly comedy and satire Thread 2: straight-faced opinion and discussion As long as the distinction is clear, I don't see the problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/16 10:12 AM

True, but the reason stand up comedy is funny, is because they say things that are true. No, they only have to seem true. A lot of stand-up comedians make points that are funny and clever at the moment, but when you pick them apart they don't make sense.

Not how it works. Well that can't stop me from criticizing it, right? A lot of redpillers come to PPD, asking "why don't people like TRP? is it because they are misandrists who don't want men to learn sexual strategy?" No, it's because of bullshit like this. This is your interpretation here. No, it's a scientific fact. I'm not asking TRP to adopt an egalitarian ethical position, just to stop implying that men have 23 ribs and women have 24. Like I said, if other subs or groups are allowed the fr…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/16 07:42 AM

So it is not a requirement that they mention how men hamster. All I want is an acknowledgment that men hamster al all. why must TRP change its language to accommodate a position they are not interested in holding? TRP isn't interested in being truthful and accurate? Imagine if the paragraph in the glossary was changed to this: Hamster - Used to describe the way that people use rationalization to resolve mental conflict and avoid cognitive dissonance. The core mechanism that allows people to say …
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/16 08:28 PM
1

I'm not saying your criticisms of feminism aren't valid (I won't get into them here), but applying them would require major changes in agenda and policy. All I'm suggesting is a small change-up in the language to prevent misinformation. why is it not okay for TRP to speak about sexual strategy within the confines of their sub as it pertains to their interactions with women? It's okay, but none of that requires the implication that i.e. hamstering is a mainly feminine trait.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/16 12:38 PM
1

I'm not closely familiar with these things, but sure, I guess.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/16 09:52 AM

Are feminists sexist for focusing on female rape and female rape victims first? Not necessarily. It would be sexist to imply, even unintentionally, that male victims and female perpetrators don't exist, though.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/16 07:25 AM
2

I don't think that disproves my point. Even if everyone married randomly, you'd still end up with more marriages where the man has a higher income than vice versa.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/07/16 07:23 AM
1

Again: no need to write entire essays on male psychology (then again, it can't hurt to know yourself if your goal is improving your strategy, right?). All I'm saying is that it would be less sexist not to use language that implies a phenomenon is uniquely female when it in fact is not. Imagine a definition like this: Rapist: a man who forces someone else to have sex with him Again, that's sort of correct - a man who does that is indeed a rapist. But it reinforces the idea that women can't be rap…

If you think that TRP is "all men are wonderful" you really havent spent much time there I didn't say so. I said that there was a lot of needlessly gendered language on TRP. From the TRP glossary (emphasis mine): Hamster - Used to describe the way that women use rationalization to resolve mental conflict and avoid cognitive dissonance. The core mechanism that allows women to say one thing and do a different thing. It's technically not wrong - women do, indeed, have this mechanism. But to someone…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/16 09:40 AM

There's no need for an in-depth analysis of male psychology and behavior, just an acknowledgment of things that are universal. Otherwise some readers will get the impression that there are gender differences in places where there aren't any.

Women still, by and large, date and marry above themselves As long as any kind of wage gap persists, that is a statistical inevitability, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 10:19 PM

I've skimmed through both parts of that post and it seems to be some guy's observations from personal life. The only data he links to is differences in IQ and religious conversion rates, which is something, but not enough to make the case. In what situation? In all of them. If men are so good at detecting their own hamsters, they would be able to self-correct and eventually become perfectly rational bias-free machines. This doesn't seem to be the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 10:11 PM
1

That's plausible, but what evidence is there to the contrary?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 09:58 PM
3

Citation? Also that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense - if men can recognize their own bias, why do they persist in it?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 09:42 PM
6

One of the things about TRP that I consider truly sexist is talking about universal human attributes as if they are predominantly feminine. Yes, as a man, you also have a very strong rationalization hamster; the more you ignore or deny it the better it works.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 08:43 PM

there were a lot of babies that came out of the woodwork when this started The babies are always there. Everywhere, on every comment section. The media ignores them, unless it's convenient not to.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/16 07:28 PM
1

Because they and their apologists didn't directly taunt the audience. I mean, maybe the "haters" were the ones who started it. But once "baby men" and "see it or you're sexist" started popping out, a lot of people who would otherwise dismiss it were attracted to the movie and to speak their minds on it.

You should also spam gore photos from time to time to purge them, like /b/ used to do. That'll leave only the true hardcores! I mean, if you want to intentionally obfuscate your meaning for the sake of elitism or something, then that's fine. But you can't complain when it works and people from the general population do, indeed, fail to understand TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/16 09:15 PM

Maybe you wouldn't. We're talking about someone who might, perhaps foolishly. Would it be justifiable?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/16 09:08 PM

"Fuckbuddies" is also somewhat inflammatory, which is why the euphemism "friends with benefits" is used, as above. And don't come up with that "objectification" bullshit. And why not? Maybe that's not the author's intention but it certainly evokes that imagery in many readers. "Plates" is only half bad. "Cock carousel" or "hamster" are worse.

A man walks down the street and sees a woman walking in front of him drop something shiny without noticing. He picks it up and sees that it's an expensive ring, and also exactly the kind of ring his wife would like to wear if she could afford one - which she can't. He decides to return the ring to its owner anyway. Is this act akin to adultery? After all, he put a stranger's interests above his spouse's.

I'd speculate it's less related to dieting for health purposes and more moderation to conserve resources, i.e. if you see a fat caveman, you wouldn't want to get along with him because he'll eat out your whole food stockpile. In that way it's more akin to gambling than smoking.

Have you heard of the Chinese robber fallacy? Basically, if someone's default hypothesis is "TRP generally doesn't improve one's chances", then you literally need millions of examples for it to be substantial evidence against it. "But there are so many stories!" - not enough on a statistical level.

No sense being polite on the internet or shying away from offensive language. When, in order to express your ideas, you use offensive language that mindkills half the people who read it, it becomes a problem. You have no right to complain when people dislike your posts when you don't do the easiest thing to make them accessible (without losing any of the substance). It's like intentionally writing an essay in bad handwriting. You won't be understood, and it will be your fault.

That's debatable, but it's not what you implied. You said: Slut shaming is just that, shaming. As if shaming was something wrong by nature. You then used a bunch of negative epithets to describe what's essentially trying to exert influence on individuals by way of social pressure. But you do that yourself, don't you? So which is it? Is slut shaming wrong because it's slut shaming or because it's slut shaming? Because these are different positions.

This is your logic right now: Someone a long time ago believed X Therefore, X is true. Friendship is unnecessary. It's also not monogamous*, so I can have as many or as few friends as I want. Why not keep the good ones, regardless of gender? *unless you're a child. I remember feeling really jealous when my friend would play with anyone else but me.

I just retook it and got ENTP-T, something different from what I had gotten before. A lot of these questions are iffy, too. For example: Logic is usually more important than heart when it comes to making important decisions. That's a belief. It's something some people consider to be universally true; that is, everyone would benefit from more logic and less heart. That says little about what people actually do in important situations. Let's say you "strongly disagree" with that statement, but the…

If you should have any empathy whatsoever, it should be for those people. You are not forgiving if you only forgive things you don't see as transgressions, you are not pluralistic if you only acknowledge viewpoints you deem acceptable and you are not tolerant if you only tolerate the ingroup. Love your enemies. In any case, I only asked for intellectual charity, and not empathy in some broader sense.

I've skimmed through some of it, and I'm not very impressed. The whole site is a mess that looks like it was made in Geocities. I don't like how it opens by trying motte-and-bailey me into "if you believe in (very common belief) you are already a feminist!" and then attaching dubious claims to that concept. I also found the "men are stronger than women" article to be pretty strawmanny. Most of it is just history of feminism, which is neat, but not something that would convince me whether I shoul…

Most people who reach adulthood and stay assholes are that way exactly because they are never shamed. Never shamed by whom? A person grows up in an environment where there he is not shamed for being an asshole, leaves it, enters another environment where he is shamed for it; you then generalize both environments as "society" and call them both hypocrites for it. Do you see the problem here?

Fair enough. Publication bias is a thing; perhaps JASNH needs more support. But I hope you still see why your opponent would not be expected to be convinved by "me and my friends all believe it!". The Russian euphemism for sex (within marriage) is "the marital duty". It's tongue-in-cheek, but it kind of reflects the truth, in my opinion. I don't think the husband is entitled to sex at any moment he demands it, no. But if he's not getting it at all, then there's something wrong with the marriage. Maybe it's his fault, or hers, but the expectation to have sex while married is reasonable. In that sense, yes, I think he is entitled to it.

If I stop teens from selling drugs in the skatepark and they start to sell drugs at school I haven't solved anything. You have. You've increased the opportunity cost; since the skatepark was their first choice and you've taken it away, there'll be fewer dealers willing to sell now. Likewise, once you take away the easiest way to rape (dark alleys), rapes will still occur, but they will be more difficult to execute and get away with. Score 1 for Team Anti-Rape.

The dominant female not so much.. it's more niche. Depends on what you mean by dominant. If you mean plays a dominant role in a romantic relationship, then maybe not so much. But if it's an anime about action, then almost always at least one of the prominent robot pilots/demon hunters/etc. will be a young female. It's immoral for both, however the things you described don't qualify as deception. There have already been things described ITT that are actual deceptions that could be used by women (perhaps more often than men) in order to get sex or relationships. They include lying about STDs, single motherhood etc. In those cases, yes, it is immoral. But not with hair dye.

Fine. Would any hypothetical man get upset when he finds out the redhead he slept with is actually a blonde?

there's a reason why there's no such thing as a BBM fetish Yeah, that reason being that it's called "BHM".
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/16 11:30 AM
2

What was your point, then? Would you ever not sleep with a girl if you found out her hair color isn't natural? Would you ever feel taken advantage of if you found out in the morning? If not, then it's not much of a deception, is it?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/16 11:22 AM
2

However, it's quite common for a woman to dye her hair from original colouring, wear push-up bras, fake tan, make-up (including contouring that can alter the appearance of the face etc. Then you have coloured contact lenses, butt-lifting underwear (or butt and/or boob implants/inserts in the underwear). If these things are deception, then do you want women to stop doing these things? Do other men? If not, then does that mean that most men want to be deceived?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/16 10:02 AM

You can also tell by reading people and the vibes they give you. Can you actually confirm that this works? I've seen several individuals who said they could "read people" and all they did was horoscope-level guesswork.

I'm sure such a tax would be seen as ridiculous even if it were gender neutral. No father or husband would want such a drain on family resources, sexism notwithstanding.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/16 08:58 AM

The truth about those things will eventually come out in virtually all cases. On the other hand, you can get old and die and never find out your wife was a slut in her youth.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/16 08:50 AM
1

Yes, we do. Empty implied threats are, among other things, illegal, and for good reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/16 07:13 AM
1

Do you understand what an implied threat is?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/16 10:34 PM
0

Maybe. So what? It's still immoral to take advantage of these people and cause them harm for your own gain. You might as well tell everyone who gets mugged that it's their own fault for being too physically weak to fight off the attackers.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/16 12:24 PM
1

An empty threat is still a threat. Just because the danger wasn't real in the end doesn't mean that what was done was a free decision. Again, what if he pointed an empty gun at her and said "have sex with me or I'll shoot"? I mean, if she said no then he wouldn't have shot her, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/16 12:22 PM
1

So you wouldn't help a fellow citizens because there are cops for that? The man has zero responsibility with regards to anyone else but himself. The man is not responsible not to threaten people? What?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/16 01:54 PM
1

I'm not 100% sure. I guess if a girl is oblivious to the implied threat and has sex with him out of her own volition, then I would say it's not rape, same if she jumped on a would-be rapist's dick in a dark alley. But if the reason she has sex with him is "the implication" and he consciously set it up that way, then yes, I would say it's rape. I know this would be almost impossible to prove in a court of law and I'm not pushing for the criminalization of boat sex. But if we could prove beyond do…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/16 01:11 PM
1

Well we do have to look after our fellow citizens, don't we? In any case, Sardonis' comment was shifting attention to an irrelevant issue. The question was: is using "the implication" rape or comparable to rape? His answer, however, mostly said "well it's unwise for women to get on boats anyway", which may very well be true, but it doesn't answer the question at all. It sounds like victim blaming because it diverts attention away from the man's responsibility.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/16 11:46 AM
2

Maybe. So what?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/16 11:38 AM
3

He implies it. I'm not saying any man who happens to try and have sex with a woman while on a boat is guilty of this, but this guy's intentions clearly aren't pure.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/16 01:33 AM
5

You didn't exactly address my comment.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/16 11:26 PM
3

It's an implied threat. If someone is consciously doing this then I consider it immoral. Just because it's an empty threat doesn't mean it's not a threat; it's still illegal to say "I'm going to shoot you with the gun in my pocket" if you don't actually have a gun.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/16 11:17 PM
5

Well it is, kind of. Yeah, it's a careless thing to do, but it doesn't excuse him at all if he actually rapes her.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/16 11:14 PM
5

My view is: The only thing that comprises "force" is a man's use of physical violence or restraint, or the real threat of using physical violence, restraint or coercion, to compel a woman to do or not do something. A lot of cults don't employ these tactics, and yet their members struggle to escape them because of pure psychological manipulation. Do you think there's a meaningful difference between that and "force"?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/16 11:10 PM

Not necessarily. This one just points out that the overlaps allegedly exist.

To make matters worse, our culture is obsessed with materialism and sex. It's fucking shoved down our throats nonstop. I don't disagree about the sex, but materialism? Well, yours is a valid philosophical position, shared by some (though not all) scholars. I don't think I'll be able to argue against it in the comment section. /r/PurplePillDebate31/01/16 10:53 PM

That's good. But what if gaining more knowledge makes them not work. Like, let's say someone on TRP makes a post in which he recommends users to drink a herbal remedy - wormwood and pomegranate peel tea - that supposedly helps excrete male pheromones that attract the ladies. Users try it and report positive results. Later, you do some research find out that the tea does no such thing and all of it was just a placebo effect. The tea will stop working if you tell them. Would you?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/16 10:46 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/16 01:09 AM

I think that's unduly high responsibility if you have no intention to coerce anyone into sex. It's like if I am a tall bodybuilder with scars on my face and I collect money for charity and someone turns out to have given me their money because they were scared of me. Is it my responsibility to make sure they feel comfortable giving me money? Am I a thief?

Stephen Fry recently married a 27-year-old man (certainly no teenager), himself being 30 years older than him. People still thought it was creepy. I guess people just don't like large age gap relationships and tend to blame the older party more, regardless of gender.

If two groups have (arguably) the same problem that could be solved with (again, arguably) the same solution, wouldn't focusing on only one of the groups be at least apparently unfair? Every murder is a tragedy, and murders in gated communities are no exception. But wouldn’t it reveal a lot about who mattered in a society if “end murder in gated communities” was how they framed their anti-murder initiatives? (quote stolen and taken out of context from here)

That person is also starving. Now that's just something you added to the analogy. Consider this instead: One person has diabetes. Another person has asthma and also an infinite bag full of insulin medication (no, they can't sell it). The first person says "you're so much luckier than me because at least you have that bag". Assuming diabetes and asthma are equally bad diseases, would you say the first person is right in saying this?

Oh well, I have to treat your two-person survey with the same skepticism as the entire field of anthropology. But you didn't dispute it on the basis of methodology. You disputed it on the basis of conclusions. I treat studies that go against the scientific consensus with skepticism because there is so much literature that goes against them. Is there really a scientific consensus that claims that men certainly don't prioritize those 11 things over good looks? Honest question.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/01/16 06:15 PM

Yes, that's how it works. If you mean that such bias is universal then yes, I unfortunately must agree. But the truly rational thing to do would be to treat all scientific studies with the same amount of skepticism regardless of whether they confirm or deny what you believe. Otherwise you just end up with isolated demands for rigor.

Do you think women and men lie about their sexual history for the EXACT same reasons? Maybe, maybe not, maybe sometimes, or maybe the differences aren't important. I'm saying that private entities shouldn't be using public resources to sell their ideology. Boys should have the right to say no to feminism I don't see how that right is getting violated by a free book. I mean, it's a free book. Most of them will probably not read it, because most teenagers either don't read, or have other books lined up. They can easily "say no" by just putting the book away. TRP readers will tell you that the advice on the sub is unique (no, it's not common sense, and no) and that it's far closer to optimal than anything else they've heard of or tried. Then there can be a productive discussion about those things. Great! What negative side effects does TRP have that are not based on morality? I've heard exredpillers say it made their relationships and worldview toxic. Why discount morality, though? It's literally the most important thing in the world, by definition.

So does a woman's past matter, or not? Can't have it both ways. Perhaps it matters under some circumstances, and doesn't matter under others due to relevant significant differences between them? Ever think of that?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/15 07:42 PM
2

I don't see what's not to understand. "You shouldn't use TRP." "But it helps me get laid!" "Maybe, but it's still bad for reasons X, Y and Z, and therefore not worth it." And the conversation then goes towards discussing the merits of X, Y and Z. It's a good dialectic when redpillers acknowledge it instead of just going "do people hate TRP because they don't want betas to improve their sexual lives????".
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/15 09:18 PM

Do you understand how metaphors work? The bluepill logic is this: Yes, TRP may "work" sometimes, but it is suboptimal and not unique it has negative side effects. Now you may argue whether 2 and 3 are true, but they are a logical response to "but it works" that TRP rarely acknowledges.

There's a big difference between wanting and pursuing, just because a male doesn't pursue doesn't means he lacks the desire I actually don't disagree with this, but I don't see how that makes for an illegitimate or dysfunctional friendship. I know very well what it's like to be heartbroken and sexually frustrated in the friendzone. I also know what it's like to think "yeah, I'd hit that I guess". Why? Seems like an arbitrary distinction. I mean, if you think something is immoral (as many illegal things indeed are), then you obviously shouldn't do it, legal or not. But it seems you're sidestepping the question of morality here. If you don't think something is immoral, but it's illegal, then you might not want to do it for fear of getting caught. But if you can't get caught, and you don't think it's immoral... is there any reason for you not to do it?

Mouths and vocal cords are neither necessary nor sufficient for language. It's all about the brain. As it stands, there is a debate in psycholinguistics (one of the first results) as to whether homo sapiens evolved to have a specific language faculty in the brain or whether it was a byproduct of something else - after all, just because all humans have 10 fingers doesn't mean that they evolved so to be able to play the piano. Monks, priests, and other religious officials are often sexual deviants. It often seems so because of various sex scandals in the media, but I'm yet to see a source that shows that sexual deviancy is overrepresented among religious officials. That's absolutely not what I said or implied. I'm just saying that you having consensual sex with them benefits them as well. If women really are as you describe them, then the moral thing to do would be to boycott them, even at the cost.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/15 06:30 PM

you're rationalizing and making yourself feel better by saying you were just TOO smart, and that objectively the other girl is a worse catch Anecdote: a girl(space)friend of mine says a guy once rejected her and he literally said it was because he thought she was too intelligent. I obviously can't say for sure if it was the real reason, but I guess it's not always based on nothing.

Why can't I have fun fucking women and at the same time not liking what they are? Because unless you are a rapist, sex is usually a mutually beneficial activity. It's like asking "why can't I trade with China while still condemning their human rights abuses?"

Murder is immoral. So is TRP (according to detractors). If it was seen as "people doing morally neutral things that are ineffective", there would be no outrage.

Mind how the concept of the "noble savage" and "the white mans burden" happened around the same time Aren't those completely opposite ideas? Also, Wikipedia says they did, in fact, appear one after the other. Look at how aristocrats, and later the bourgeoisie treated their wives and daughters. They didn't work, were glorified for their "feminine qualities" and their "chastity" See, this is why I am not comfortable using the word "oppression" for the treatment of women in pre-feminist society. A man (or woman) with options does not need to take chances (you do take a bigger chance whenever you date a mentally ill person than otherwise). The uncomfortable truth about dating is that prejudices are rational from a pragmatic standpoint, and not everyone gets a chance.

"If a man can't entertain me enough just by talking, he don't deserve the pussy. I on the other hand have done my part by having a vagina and hence don't need to provide anything other than the possibility of future sex" Well that seems to be the men's fault, no? They are willing to jump through all those hoops just to get into a stupid, boring woman's pants. If men everywhere raised their standards, women would have to lower them or contribute more.

But men still have sexual desire and feminism has shamed or removed easy channels for men to satisfy their sexual appetite (e.g Prostitution and Porn). Before feminism came along, prostitution and porn was legal and acceptable, right? Without them, men are now forced to deal with these terrible people and give in to their demands. Nobody's forcing you to do anything. You can live out your life without sex if you want. Monks and priests do it, right? (inb4 "little boys xD")

You seem to purposefully omit the word "typically" there, OP. Dictionaries define words according to how they are used in real discourse. Since people talk about anti-female sexism more than the other kind, this gets added to the definition. Yeah, I know this is a dubious point, but I don't count satisfaction derived from altruistic acts as something that disqualifies them from being selfless. You wouldn't feel good about it if you didn't legitimately consider it the right thing to do or if you didn't care about that person.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/15 06:14 PM

I think I saw a quote somewhere, maybe by C.S. Lewis, but maybe not because I can't find it anywhere, that went like "we don't believe things because it is nice or beneficial to believe them, we believe them because they are true". Catholicism is true. Or it isn't, in which case it would right off the bat be undesirable to believe it, even if it made one richer and happier.

I see why you'd read it that way, but not what I meant, should have phrased it differently. What I meant is, it's the fact that all men are doing it that causes men not into sports to feel ostracized, because it is undesirable in many circles to be "not like all the normal men".
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/15 04:05 PM
2

If it doesn't benefit me in some way, its essentially useless. There's your problem. Feminism is, on paper, an altruist movement. It's not supposed to benefit you, only those who are (allegedly) wronged and downtrodden. You're essentially saying "Why should I be an abolitionist? I'm not a slave.".
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/15 10:50 AM

Why is a face with makeup on it not one's "true face"? Is it because it's temporary? Is it because you need external technology to achieve it? Because the same can be said about shaving.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/15 02:03 PM

It gives you a new look, just like shaving. But the "new look" is not illegitimate, IMO.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/15 01:22 PM

Not at all. I am arguing that the "different look" is not fake or invalid.

you can't fake dead lifting 400 pounds What if I had cyborg arms that could do that? Would that be fake or manipulative? Please don't bother responding with "lol that's not possible in real life, so why even entertain the idea".

By wearing makeup you are presenting yourself in a way that isn't a true representation Why? You don't pretend to look better, you actually look better. It all sounds like the cult of "natural" things to me, like people who insist on using things that are "organic" and "without chemicals". How is makeup any different from showering or shaving?

I personally believe that deceiving is wrong by default. There are exceptions (murderer at the door, etc.), but I wouldn't agree that this is one of them.

Naivete has little to do with the subject at hand. Wouldn't you say that it would be reasonable to take the scammer to court? Even if not possible, wouldn't you say that it was wrong of him to do this?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/15 09:08 AM

It's a lie, you're just not supposed to be stupid enough to fall for it? Let me paraphrase. It's not a lie if your purpose is not deceiving anyone, because the facts are on the table. The purpose of cosplaying Harry Potter is not convincing people that you are an actual wizard. However, if someone were naive enough to actually believe you are a wizard, I think it might be wrong (although hilarious) to take advantage of that.

What if you were a real lookalike and also good at impressions? Do you think it's okay to exploit people who just don't know any better?

"White lies" is ameliorative. Those are not wrong to tell by definition. It's quite questionable whether this or any other hypothetical lie are white lies, though. If the only way to get what you want was to do something wrong, would you do it?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/15 11:58 PM

It's not a lie if you're not supposed to be fooled at all. I might consider corsets and implants lies, but certainly not makeup and heels. Those are just improvements, like clothing.

I think it's reasonable to expect that a stranger won't bullshit to my face for personal gain. And I know it's not legally fraud. I just wanted to emphasize that I'm not talking about bending the truth, but outright creating falsehood.

A lot of people think prostitutes like being prostitutes and don't understand that most of it is forced upon them Citation? If the pimps were put out of business and the women had more control it would be healthier and safer all around Superfreakonomics says that a prostitute with a pimp has a much lower probability of being abused by a customer, so there's that.

Showering, shaving and haircuts are temporary as well. Are they "fake"? Your fitness physique doesn't last forever if you don't maintain it, either. Makeup and surgery is covering up a lack of SMV. If we're using "SMV" interchangeably with "good looks" here, then I don't really see how. If I look a woman in the face, and it makes me feel aesthetic pleasure or sexual attraction, then why should I care whether or not she "woke up like this"? If she's that much worse without makeup, then I'll just …

Democracy isn't based on the idea that the citizens are collectively competent and will usually choose what's best, and therefore should be able to rule their country. Democracy is based on the idea that the citizens are the entitled owners of the country and should be able to rule it regardless of whether they do it well or poorly. Presuming that, women should always have the right to vote even if they really are all those terrible things.

It is a general principle that cliberals/libertarians hold on to that claims that any kind of excess regulation hurts small business because it's harder for them to deal with it than it is for big businesses. So I would say yes; in the best case scenario this is a quid pro quo in which you weaken small business but strengthen "equality".

It doesn't help that in many languages nurses are called "sick sisters", "medical sisters" etc., so the males would be "medical brothers", which foregrounds the uncommonness and sounds pretty silly as a result. just don't be surprised when you get screwed But I will be surprised, because that is very unlikely to happen to me. Most of the time, people keep their word. I guess a good counter-argument to that would be that, as far as I know, populations explode after the war anyway, so there's really no need to force anyone to breed. On the contrary, soldiers pretty much have to be mobilised before the war if the country wants to win it. I would not instantly agree that this is the kind of thing that should be illegal, but let's say it really should.
