ELI5: Why do Indian people switch between their own language and English like that? I've seen it in every video I've ever seen from India. I've never seen any other multi-lingual culture do this. I even spent a year in South Africa where there are 11 official languages and even most young children are multi-lingual, but I've never seen people swap mid-sentence back and forth between languages. Why do Indians do this?

That's a very very very good question. Why don't you ask doctors, parents, and mental health specialists exactly why they don't perform such a test at birth? Or at least at around age 4 or 5? They can't, because gender is a product of brain chemistry and several other factors. It is not changeable. OP's mistake is in thinking that when someone's gender doesn't match their physical sex, that means they're "changing" their gender. No, they aren't, they're being true to what their gender actually is, regardless of whether it matches their physical sex or not.

I am a taecher who works in a state where the age of consent is 16. I can promise you that if I slept with a 16yo, regardless of it being legal, that it would not at all be socially acceptable and that it is most certainly an ethics violation that would cost me my career. I'm also only about 5'6" and, luckily, only work with elementary students. We were taught to never attempt to restrain someone taller than yourself. A large part of the restraint is only effective when you have leverage gained over the person you're restraining. If they're too much taller, you'll never get that leverage and they'll just toss your ass. Your mom should look in to Mindset and see if someone can come to her school and teach it.

The program is called "Mindset." The first half of it is de-escalation training, in order to prevent the need for restraint, ideally. The 2nd half is proper restraint, moving, etc. A bear hug sounds like a terrible idea; good way to get your nose broken by the back of someone's head.

Actually, a non-trained person is better protected than me. If I screw up, they can say "well, you're trained, you know better!" and I get in trouble. If they screw up, ignorance can be claimed and a job can be saved. That could very well be part of it.

There are ways, just not every teacher is trained in them. I have training in how to restrain and forcibly move a student without hurting them. There is a very specific way to do it so that there's almost no chance of the student getting hurt. Being trained in this, I can legally hold a student on the ground or move them against their will to another location and I won't get in any trouble as long as I've followed the proper procedure.
