I have heard stories of rape from people I trust and who I don't think would benefit from lying to me about it and I updated my priors accordingly. I don't 100% believe them, of course, but I have to take it into account. Why would I just ignore that evidence? 1	This is why we need this sub. "I have a pet cat" and "I have a pet tyrannosaurus that is possessed by a demon" are not equal claims. You can't completely confirm or deny either but I hope it would take a hell of a lot more evidence for you to believe the second one. I would need to see a ghost with my own eyes, have at least a few other people see it to confirm, and not have any reasonable alternative explanation before I started to believe in ghosts. 2	This is why we need this sub. Yes, they are claiming special knowledge too. There is something like 2-10% provably false claims (maybe more if we actually investigated as thoroughly as we should). Then there are provably true claims which should hopefully correspond to the conviction rate. I don't care to look it up right now because the exact number isn't relevant so lets say 10%. 8	This is why we need this sub. Claiming that they are nearly all false is a similar to claiming they are nearly all true. For something like 80% of claims we just don't know and have no way to find out. Don't act like you have special magic knowledge of the world that you can't possibly have. 2	Why don't men band together and change the laws women do? Part of the male gender role is to not complain about your problems.
