What a dense, narrow-minded way of looking at all men.

You don't understand my point. My point is that this subreddit is making a reference to the fact that women are treated differently because of their gender..and how unfair that is...but then here we are implying that the genders should indeed be treated differently because they are different.

Just curious, but why do people make subreddits like this, and then say things like this, that basically gives the offender a pass because of her gender? It's just a little ironic to me.

I was going to respond to all your shit (and it is, shit, btw) but you aren't worth my time. I do find it funny though that you think I'm a feminist. Feminists have called me a "raving MRA" before and I'm no longer welcome on that subreddit, but yeah I guess I'm a feminazi? Lol this post wasn't even about the law, it was about peoples' personal views and how they would treat others. But all you care about is how it's seen in the eye of the law. Nice. It's good that you're showing your true colors. Hahah, what can I say man, you're very insulting and condescending as well. I was banned from /r/Feminism and I'm unsubbing from this clearly misogynistic filled cesspool. Only a man would consider 'you're a little bitch' as an insult. How am I shitty? Oh yeah, I said I hope your mom/sister/SO gets raped. Well, when you act like a piece of shit you get shit spat in your face mate. Don't worry though, I'd still be empathetic towards them even …

I'm male. It's also true. I find it interesting you believe those who are empathetic have to be female. And by interesting, I mean typical.

When it's pretty obvious someone is having issues because of an event, I am able to display empathy. Does that mean the guy will be convicted? Probably not. Will I treat him like a rapist? Doubtful. But at least I have a heart and am empathetic. People wouldn't be sexist if men showed a shred of decency and compassion in situations like this. Instead you preach false-rape allegation statistics which demean and belittle the real victims. You should be ashamed.

Kay, so what would you say to her then? That you don't believe her? Also, feminists call me an MRA. MRA's call me a feminist. Lololol oh jeez

My phrasing has nothing to do with the quality of my post. I spent a long time typing all that out. I'm not going to argue about semantics over a disagreement you might have with posts I've seen in this subreddit

Based on every post about an accusation in this subreddit and the fact I've seen people post that "we shouldn't automatically believe women on their word"

It's a shame really. I can understand wanting to fight for rape victims, but this just makes it so no one wins. A student's reputation is tarnished (thankfully his life wasn't ruined in this case..) and the real victims of sexual assault or who experienced a trauma now will be believed less because of events like this.

It shouldn't be a crime? But that can circle right back around to personal responsibility yeah? She was wrong for taking the pictures but he was wrong for selling them to people. She should be charged for sending him under-aged photos, but he should be charged for selling them as well. Even if she was 18, she would still share some of the blame. That doesn't mean he shouldn't charged though. She can be 100% at fault for sending away pictures of herself but still be a victim.

The trauma of having to deal with it can be pretty stressful. Especially if you already have mental health issues like anxiety and depression. More often than not rapists (real ones) are someone who knows the woman (or person, if you want to make this about how men get raped too >.>). Odds are he isn't just going to go around raping random woman. Trials are stressful. Having to retell what happened to you is stressful. I mean jeez haven't you seen an episode of Law & Order SVU?

Hide a camera in your place before you have sex to prove it was consensual. The penalty for a hidden camera has to be a lot less severe than a rape charge if no one believes you on the later.

The study noted that while levels of narcissism were higher they were still in normal ranges? Why did the person even write this article? Also, this might not have been sexist. After all, the study decided to only focus on men...probably to eliminate one more variable that could skew results.

Even if you are 'asking' to get mugged by walking around downtown with bags of money in your hands, the mugger/muggers would still get charged. I'm not really seeing your point here. That people are hypocritical? If someone is partially to blame for what happens to them...they can still be a victim...

Sort of feel like people either have a strong opinion one way or the other. Never any middle ground with those who believe it was or those who believe it wasn't. Every situation is black and white. I don't know much about the new person, but Elliot Rodger was not targeting women. I don't understand why people said he was a good example of misogyny. His rampage had nothing to do with women. In his manifesto they were mentioned...what...once or twice? On a couple pages? 1) He clearly had some disorders going on, including narcissistic personality disorder 2) Most of his victims were male, indicating that he didn't 'target' women 3) Most of his ranting in his manifesto was about his feeling o…

I can understand them making a mistake because of the loud noises. I can also understand why they had to use the amount of force they did. You don't know what a suspect has on him or what he'll do. You have...not a lot of time to react and pinning someone against the ground to handcuff him is the best/only thing you can do. Yes, in hindsight? Probably too much force. This reminded me of an argument I got into with a former facebook friend (and, of course, as a result, her immediate friends on her wall because they all had to attack me). She was talking about how all our professors/former professors never treated her with respect, would never answer her questions, and would always favor her male peers over her opinions/thoughts/comments. After reading what she typed, I thought back to those classes...and honestly, I can't remember a time in which she was 'opp…

This has nothing to do with men's rights, but for sake of conversation I don't really buy what he's trying to say. Some of what he said made sense until he started to talk about the friendzone. The friend zone is not real. The friend zone is a made up place for people who want more than friendship but deceive women into thinking they are their friends. They believe the nicer you are to a woman...the more she likes you as a friend, the better your odds of a romantic relationship are. This is fals…

Not really a problem, but there is more to kids/raising someone than just knowing they are 'yours' biologically. I don't get that impression from a lot of people. It's not so much a problem as it is depressing.

Yeah I mean I definitely agree that it is pretty unfair, I guess I only commented about the whole 'DNA/child thing' because it seems like a lot of guys (especially on the internet I guess?) give the vibe that they could only love/raise a child if it was theirs.
/r/MensRights17/01/15 04:48 PM
-10

I do have to say that it would be nice if people could see 'children' as more than just whose DNA is whose. After all, a person is more than just his genetics; upbringing is important, is what I mean. While the child might not be biologically someone's, plenty of people get adopted and love their parents/continue their values and 'legacy' just fine. That being said, obviously someone should still be able to get a paternity test if they want to.
/r/MensRights17/01/15 04:30 PM

Oh I definitely agree, but see that's the problem...whenever suggestions are posed the radicals tend to view it as blaming the person for what happened.

That's the 'beauty' of radical feminists though, lol. Nothing is their fault. Women not speaking up enough? Let the professor pick who speaks up. Women not being called on enough? Require them to be called on first. Do some women think this idea is stupid? That's just their internal patriarchy talking. Do some men think this idea is stupid? They are obviously misogynists. Women walking around in the ghetto at 4 am and getting attacked? Teach men not to rape. Women not walking around in the ghett…

I believe what the author is trying to say is that men commit suicide more than women because they have the 'option' to or something. That because socially men have more 'privilege', they don't feel the same pressure women feel to not commit suicide? That maybe women feel on a social level more than men it is unacceptable to take their own lives? Or something? I don't know, lol..seems kind of like a hand-wavey argument to me
/r/MensRights16/01/15 07:39 AM

Yeah I think this paper brings up good points! It's interesting how guys usually joke around with each other a lot but women often don't? Or maybe they do? I don't know. I didn't grow up around many women, so what do I know. I feel like a feminist response to this would be that "it's the patriarchy that causes those social norms", but I think it has to do with inherent differences between male and female psyche. Shrug, who knows. Just treat people with respect and it shouldn't matter. But I'm an…

Seems like they are just tagging "man" to anything they can think of these days in an attempt to claim oppression. I wonder how real victims of sexism and violence feel about that (both male and female).
/r/MensRights12/01/15 02:13 PM

Um..like..usually people move out of each others' ways...and if they don't everyone thinks they're a dick, regardless of gender. How could this ever prove that females are oppressed O.o
/r/MensRights11/01/15 03:17 AM
1

Right but I mean from society's standpoint, males commit most violent crimes (I added in domestic so people wouldn't call me biased or whatever). In this case, most violent crimes are committed by males. Most victims of violent crimes are males. So a 'normal' crime would be male -> male. This is the reason that male -> female seems that the crime is 'gender based' to some. As in, they are arguing that had the victim not been female, they would not have been the victim of a crime. As to how true …
/r/MensRights06/01/15 08:06 PM

But is it irrevelent? Men are often more violent (something like 80% of all violent crimes, if i recall correctly) - outwardly at least. It evens out if you consider domestic abuse as well, and things like passive-aggressiveness (which has been proven that women do more - at least on average more often). As they are often more violent for biological reasons, it's considered more 'normal' or 'ordinary' for there to be crimes against men. Men are more likely to be the victims of crime. I know that…

Because I believe on a biological level, men are inherently more aggressive. Yes, there are certain women who are more violent than the average man. Yes, there are certain men who are less violent than the average man. I am not saying that all men are more violent than women. I am not saying that women are not violent. I am saying that due to testosterone and other chemical compositions, men are generally more destructive than women (at least physically). Sometimes when I raise points like this,…

That is a bit misleading. That implies that in a month, if there are 100 rape accusations, that 33 of them are false. That just isn't how statistic works. It's going to vary from month to month. If 100 rape accusations happen in January, 0 of them could be false. We just don't know. Preaching statistics like that is what makes people not believe women about rape. I doubt that is your incentive. Also, how are you doing your math? Because that sounds way off to me. Your final point says that 33% o…

Yes of course, you can be prejudiced against men. I just don't think she deserves the kind of heat she is getting. I think a lot of people who post here are like a lot of the users you find on /r/Feminism. If you spend all your time thinking about & seeing articles where women are trashing on men, you're going to see it everywhere you go. It's like comparing apples and oranges though. Gender issues and race issues are two completely different things. Their only similarity is that you can be prejudiced against each one. Gender is something that is part of life regardless of socioeconomic status, country, religion, age, and so on. It is also something that has certain specific parameters that can be determined (i.e. average testosterone levels vs estrogen levels) compared to race, which are going to vary based on region. Not sure i…

She never once said that all men are like that. In fact she clearly said they aren't. Obviously given the tone of the article she doesn't think that there are no female perpetrators, given that she never said that. She only was going off her own experiences.

Um, she wasn't saying that women are the only victims. She said she doesn't want to hate all men because of what her father/early babysitter did to her and wants to forgive them. Hang on a second...if a male gets a sex change, some consider her to still be a man. Why aren't trans-gendered people included in this? I agree with you only if the guy is drunk too and no 'iffy' situations were involved..such as a sober guy convincing her and she is a bit reluctant at first but after a few beers gives in. It doesn't help the fact that when I have mentioned this to feminists that I have known in the past, I was called names such as a misogynist...and was told that my "true colors are com…

That's still a pretty neat ad, I've gotta say. I can imagine if I was there I would be all like "huh...they want me to stand...here?" and I'd slowly step into the square it tells you to stand in and I would look up and see the message "you have the power to make a difference" or whatever and I would smile and nod my head once at a passer-by who is looking at me confused. But in all seriousness, I don't think this ad is trying to be sexist.

I concur. It's a bad double standard but in terms of social norms/physical attractiveness it doesn't make much sense.

I think women lying about being on birth control to control a guy should be under this potential new law, though how one would be able to prove that he didn't want kids could be tough. Would be hard to convict I would imagine...so maybe nevermind.

Yeah I know how you feel, though I think in that case women are usually like that when it comes to sexuality. At least at first. Height isn't sexual, breasts are (kind of, lol). That's the only way I can rationalize that. Though to be fair to you, she probably would have still blocked you if you had asked how much she weighed.

inserts witty comment about how 100% of male rape perpetrators are male, not 93.7%

Careful with that kind of opinion man! It's pretty sexist for you to talk about how sexist that sexist test is! /s

This pisses me off so much. So her argument is that since there are more male rapists than female rapists...along with the fact that males would 'dominate' the conversation or remind females of their 'oppressed' world...that males should not be included in feminist discussions of sexual assault? I just don't understand the 'logic' behind this. If male victims can't be a part of a general conversation, where are they expected to go? If feminism is actually fighting for everyone's rights, then why…
