Obviously not in like up-scale restaurants but amigo is common as shit, if we go to a taco stand one might get called the English equivalent of cousin, blondie, dude, pal, bro and some others. Not often, but I've seen staff call "madre" (mother) a woman who they feel looks like a motherly figure but who they have no clue about.
