One other thought to respond to one of the comments. You are right that the therapist has no responsibility to save your marriage, the only responsibility is to the patient. I think the point of view is that you and your partner are responsible for saving your marriage.

Here's another point of view. Therapists dont usually say the things you're listing below because some actually do good work and are not just trying to make a ton of money. This is not a money making profession, it's not Wall St. So legit therapists are not going to label a spouse (husband or wife) because they don't really know you and they inherently know it woudl be unfair and actully not good therapy. And many couples reconnect so a therapist will work with a patient but stay out of the way …

To the OP: if your wife filed for divorce six weeks after she started seeing a therapist, most likely, she wasn’t honest with you about why she started seeing a therapist. You assumed it was trauma from before your time. Seems she was probably contemplating a divorce. You did a good job looking up good research but do you really know that it applies to your situation?
