How does one handle bank account balancing and entries in a marriage? My wife balances the accounts and enters expenses into our budget programs. Is that usual? I also have access to the accounts, but she keeps them updated, pays the bills, etc.

I certainly know all my finances. But all are in joint accounts that she handles. Every expense and dollar is accounted for Dave Ramsey style. So I cannot spend one cent without her knowing what the expenses is for. All expenses are either on credit card, check (rare) and from petty cash where we write down the purpose of the expense on a ledger. Don’t most married couple keep joint accounts?

I make good money. And have plenty of savings. My paycheck is automatically deposited into our joint account. My wife handles our accounts and will see right away if I withdraw money to pay lawyer. I am not yet ready for that discussion. My issue is not lack of money. My issue is lack of access to money without her knowing right away. I think I will take an advance at work to pay the lawyer. That money will come directly to me.

I think if you hung more with LDS, you would see that we all have very much in common. I am a strong believer in the 2 great commandments Jesus taught. Love god and love your neighbor.

Mormons are Christians. Don’t believe the negativity surrounding them. Source: I am a Mormon and very much a Christian. You don’t have to make such a huge deal about going on a date. Live your standards and encourage her to live hers and have a nice time together.

Wow. This post describes me with 98% accuracy. I feel completely stuck. I’m LDS, bald, middle aged and fat. Wife doesn’t respect me and has zero desire for me. I serve in the church, work hard, make very good money, try to be a good father, work hard around the house when I am not working hard at work, but I am completely discontent with marriage and family for all the reasons mentioned. I got angry reading the OP because it is so true. Huge bummer.

I assume this is a joke. I have more sidebar reading to do, but assume MRP advocates honoring marital vows. MRP principles would seem to say that my lack of BJs is mostly my fault and the fault of my big gut, moobs, no muscle, and bad frame. No sense breaking marital vows over something that is mostly my fault.

Thanks for all the awesome comments. I'm going to get to work lifting, losing and learning the MRP ideals. Next Thanksgiving will be a good time to see how life has changed in the BJ frequency.
