Sky is blue. Water is wet. Feminists are hypocrites. What else is new?

In other words, cognitive empathy vs. affective empathy. EDIT: This is a concept people on the spectrum sometimes discuss due to the notion that we autists ‘lack empathy’. It is true that autists are generally lacking in cognitive empathy due to the fact that we find it hard to gauge another person’s emotions in real time. But that doesn’t mean we are incapable of affective empathy. In other words, autists are capable of feeling bad for people due to misfortunes, but we just find it hard to asse…

I’ve read your other comments on this thread and I agree with your point. It’s just not feasible for men to show vulnerability when society itself is generally not very accomodating to weaknesses from men. In fact, it would make the situation worse as the vulnerabilities will be used against them. In other words, for men to show emotions, society has to first care about their emotions. I’m not sure when society will start to genuinely care, but I won’t hold my breath.

Holy shit, these brutal replies to his comment. The way I see it, dude is clearly implying he’s been hurt before for showing vulnerability. But you guys are basically just tearing him apart for his remark. Guys, don’t just ask to be on the receiving end of empathy. We have to show some as well.

Quite an unfortunate situation, isn’t it? I’m not entirely sure why it compels you to downvote the post, but I get where you’re coming from.

Isn’t everyday international men’s day? No, but it should be considering how men built most of our civilisation.

These feminists can’t even hold themselves accountable for their own damn actions, and yet they expect men to hold OTHER MEN accountable for their actions? These feminists can fuck back off to their caves.

Neither of the two you are refering two are employed in politics. So not only are their academic ideas wrong but they are wasting time in areas outside their nominal expertise. First of all, they’re kicked out for voicing some opinions. Since they’re not employed in politics and they’re voicing a political opinion, then why sack them over something that’s not related to their field? It’s not like they did actual crime. Secondly, since you accused them of wasting time, there are contexts on how a…

Thus debate tends to be limited to things that have been shown to have some level of credibility and and who's promoters are acting in good faith. That doesn’t explain the pervasiveness of feminist ideas in academia, though. Because those ideas are neither credible nor their promoters are acting in good faith.

They kicked him out. Thats what you want to happen to people who's ideas die on their merits right? So to be clear you want universities to keep dead ideas on life support? Not what I’m saying at all. The point is they’re kicked out for being ‘politically incorrect’. Not for their academic ideas. And even if their ideas are outdated, you should attack their ideas instead of the persons themselves.

One appears to have spent much of their career working on supersymmetry (CERN says no). Alessandro Strumia didn’t get kicked out of CERN for supersymmetry, though. He got kicked out because of a ‘sexist’ presentation. EDIT: And Cambridge didn’t disinvite Jordan Peterson for his outdated theories. They did so because he disagrees with identity politics (and feminism).

True. And it’s even more ludicrous that many academics are subscribing to this kind of politics. Academics are supposed to be open to ideas and debate them regardless of the controversy. Not to live in echo chambers. It’s a shame that the institution where new ideas develop decayed into this.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
