The vast majority of men in the dating market are going into it with a goal, namely, to have a long term relationship, since "casually dating for a few years" is not a goal. Men who want to causally have sex don't date, because it is a waste of time, they simply find partners who want the same thing. The few that do date with the intent to deceive their partner do this because they are too unattractive to find someone by being honest about their intentions. I will admit that the lonely woman who…

As I said, the probability that the lonely woman will find a man who is not interested in casual sex (and therefore does not fix loneliness via casual sex) is close to 100% if she either neutrally meets them or approaches them (since the chances of being with such a man are so low, the only way those men end up with anyone is because they are the majority of the approachers). If being with a man is more lonely and worse than being single even when you are with a man who is only interested in mar…

Exactly, that's why what I said is true, the lonely woman who wants a man to get to know her and bond with her should either approach or meet neutrally, rather than wait to be approached since 90% of male approachers are looking for a casual relationship. The lonely woman who does not want a man for the reasons you mentioned and prefers to be single does not need to date a man, so she has no problem. If she changes her mind and wants to start dating, she should use the strategy of the aforementi…

The lonely woman is much more likely to date a man who only wants sex if she waits to be approached, because they are very overrepresented in the approaching crowd. It's better to more neutrally meet someone, or simply approach first, reducing the probability that you have a man who is dating casually.

Doesn’t the solution for lonely women seem kind of obvious then? A woman could simply adopt the strategy of approaching a few men regularly (they don’t even need to do it as much, since they’ll be more successful than men would). If she’s worried she might end up in many bad relationships this way, she could be more selective, but the solution is clearly not to just wait for someone to approach you, since most of those are not who you actually want to date.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
