That’s incorrect in my region, and I believe in most. It’s generally a well-settled area of legal territory wherever you are since it’s such a common occurrence.

It depends where you live. Where I live, if an engagement is broken, the engagement ring must be returned to the giver. If you marry and later divorce, the ring does not have to be returned. It's considered a conditional gift, with a marriage occurring being the condition.

This makes me think of the comedian DeAnne Smith's bit about the woman she was dating who had only dated men before her: The girl I'm dating now, until now, has exclusively dated men. It is so easy to impress her, it's ridiculous! I just show her basic human dignity and she loses her mind!

I've known one shorter guy (5'7"-5'8") who had this big-man, kind-and-strong energy. He was a semi-pro martial artist/scale model of Adonis. I think it has something to do with feeling strong and capable.

I think it’s just “scrotes” that sends them into a tizzy. I suspect it’s a new experience for many of them to be referred to by a designation that acknowledges they are male while simultaneously dismissing their opinions’ importance on that same basis. Men are used to being called emasculating names and compared to women when they’re disregarded.

Nah, it's funnier when you just know they're bitching into the void

Even birds know that they need to secure food and shelter before mate-seeking. This human male is dumber than a bird.

When it comes right down to it, you are going to have to do the uncomfortable work of enforcing this boundary. Probably repeatedly. When they ask why you don't like listening, tell them: I listen, and I disagree. If (when) they have a problem with that, it will be uncomfortable. Accept that upfront. If they're not willing to accept subtle deflection, you will have to turn to explicit disagreement, and tell them no. You are also allowed to tell them the conversation is over, and hang up the phone…

I assume most men do. Most men are creeps. They just keep confirming this for me, even without dating them.

Maybe if you're in your very early twenties this can function as an explanation for why you're still learning. You are still responsible for learning those skills as an adult, though, and if you haven't done so by the time you've been out of your parents' house for five years, then it's a choice you're making.

Clearly her standards are not too high. If anything, she should be more demanding. It’s apparent the man-market can easily bear it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
