2	What. The. Fuck My example never was one for every state. In my current jurisdiction there are 9 ways to terminate someone's parental rights. One of them has to do with commission of a crime so bad that that parent should not be a parent. My state doesn't have a set list of which crimes fall in that category, but in a case-by-case scenario the law you want already exists. So you don't necessarily need to write a new law. If they want the rights then they have the obligation. 3	What. The. Fuck Don't shoot the messenger here, but I've been a family law lawyer and I want to explain why courts conclude this way. Not saying it's right, but it's a lot more accurate of a description than is typically given. Legally determining someone is a parent is called paternity and maternity. That gives you rights and obligations. If you want the right to have contact with a child you have the obligation to provide for them.
