Got paywalled. I just want to note that the only reason I did well in school was because A) I'd be punished if my GPA fell below a 3.0 and B) Home life became so toxic that I preferred being at school. When I went to college, my grades were mid at best due to undiagnosed AuDHD and CPTSD. I openly judge people who do creepy shit and say creepy and problematic shit. Simple shit like refusing to laugh at misogynistic jokes makes these guys uncomfortable, and they back track or simply don't do it again. With friends in particular, I basically gentle parent them. I stopped crying and started dissociating, because my stepdad accused me of crying to manipulate my momma. I actually like the "Yes means Yes" ethic, because it leaves no room for ambiguity. I'm autistic, not only can I barely read hints, I refuse to entertain them. I can understand that this ethic can be restrictive for some, and I don't think all uncomfortable advances should be fully anathematized. I think you give them too much credit. In my conversations, other Progressives seem genuinely oblivious to the internal diversity of Men's Activism. Alot of Leftists are offended by their own theories. Leftism has been historically skeptical of Gender and has seen Capitalism as alienating to all genders. Some groups within the Left have gotten a bit obsessed with their own oppression that is governs how they treat people.
