I'm so confused about slutwalks. Isn't people having consensual sex a good thing? I don't get why a slut is an insult. I know it is, I'm not nuts, but I don't really get why. I mean, I want to have a lot of sex, all things considered. Isn't it in my best interests for women to be sluts? Who is telling them not to be? Stop it! Gender politics confuses the fuck out of me.

I didn't mean to imply they were. I was speaking more about the importance of distinguishing between condemning the media for marginalizing male death and giving the impression that we think a 50/50 split of fatalities would be 'better'. After all the "MRAs hate / want to kill women" articles, I do think it's important to clarify we're not saying more women should have died. Because that is what a lot of people assume we are saying.

My mother was mentally ill as well, and I hated women for a long time because of that. It wasn't until I found the men's rights movement that I actually understood her abuse wasn't my fault. It also showed me there are some crazy women out there, but in doing so, helped me understand just how small a minority of people that is. I'm grateful to be able to say I genuinely bear no animosity to either gender any more. I just hope in the next decade or two we can evolve from mra/feminist to simply hu…

Yeah, it sucks they killed those guys. But I'm not sure complaining they didn't kill the women is the healthiest viewpoint. I mean, I get the point about the media and the marginalization of men's deaths, absolutely. But maybe this particular issue would benefit from a more statistical approach, rather than one that can so easily be misinterpreted. I just think using an actual recent tragedy to illustrate a problem is sort of tacky, even when you're 'right'.

Yeah, I really enjoy being a member of 2x but it's clear that men are openly unwelcome. I will say that in addition to the hate, I usually get more upvotes than down, so I feel welcome enough to stick around. It just sucks to know how high a percentage of the sub is bothered enough by my genitals to complain regardless of the content of my post. It's similar for them here, of course, it's not (necessarily) a gender thing. Still sucks though.

This may not be the popular opinion, but I really have no problem with it. If some charity wants to feed and vaccinate a few thousand kids? I'm just glad it's happening at all, even if they use a fucked up way to pick who gets the aid. Obviously it'd be better in every way if they were helping boys also. But, shit, it's not like I'm doing anything to help any of them.

Just one point I wanted to add. In order to be a risk to a child, a person would have to be both a pedophile and a rapist. There are tons of adults who are attracted to kids and teens in their fantasies, that would never dream of snatching some kid to rape.

I support the change conceptually, but 9 syllables is an awful lot for a 'tagline'. For a soundbite to work, it has to be punchy enough to stick without the audience having to muddle through too much.

Thanks. I've found that when explaining Men's Rights to people, a lot of them have trouble grasping why it's such a big deal until I say, "It's basically fighting against sexism." That phrase has caused more than a few people to finally 'get' us, in my limited experience.
