I still think it's pretty weird that you take it as a rule to "never text a man to confirm" (but you'd do it with friends) and post on reddit to ask for advice. It's really no big deal to just send a text and ask...it's just a text? Imagine he didn't feel any need to confirm (like any person that I know) and just went there and you weren't there?
