Yes, keep reading from that same link, don't just stop there. As I said, I wasn't disagreeing about certain aspects others wanted to nitpick into the comment tree away from my first response.

http://pewrsr.ch/2nALxLy It's fast tracking to eventually become a myth, but we aren't there yet. (Yes, even controlling for factors like family leave.)

Did you want me to plagiarise something from the article so you didn't have to read the substantial bit that agreed with what you said about your sister's experience at uber and what I said about the more subtle forms of discrimination that make it difficult for women and gender minorities to communicate with and work with men in "competitive" environments?

No no, I said only that men as men do not actively experience STEM as women, and i spoke as a woman who is actively involved in this topic of low retention rates of women workers. Yes, there are some women who get paid more than men. I didn't say there weren't. My comments were mostly restricted to the observation another poster made about how many women get into STEM field and the retention rates. Read all my comments directed at that topic foremost. http://www.newyorker.com/business/currency/t…

No, I don't think I'm a hot shot, never said so. You must be reading something into the comments. English is not my first language. Many women of various kinds, and other gender minorities work in Silicon Valley. Not as many as the men, and not as well paid, but that goes all the way to the parent comment I've striven to only talk about.

I said no such thing. In my reply to the statistics about which degrees women earned, I said that many women don't end up going into STEM jobs (or continuing in them) because of the way men treat them during that time period and the time leading up to it. Not all men, just a few are enough to make it very difficult for women to continue along a STEM education to employment path. For instance, not all men stalk, but just one stalker at a job who isn't dealt with by HR can easily cause women to le…

It bears relevance to what I said the first time. You mischaracterised my entire statement which is based not only on my personal experience, but in studying the phenomenon too. It was as if you didn't recognise someone could be telling the truth because it disagreed with your perspective despite the fact that I myself am a woman who works in a STEM environment, and you are apparently not, as are not the men who initiated the comment thread. Many women leave a field because of the same type of r…

I'm speaking as a woman who works in STEM in silicon valley.

You've got some doozies too. Is your account shared with a homophobic sexist dude?

Often it's because men are difficult to work with for women seen as pursuable sex objects,so they pick a field with at least slightly more women in it than their first pick.

Female perspective: She simply could have felt that she was too high, or otherwise inebriated to be having sex. She could have felt like she was going to be "used", and turned cold. You being a "gentleman" by not pushing the issue and sleeping instead, and not fucking her in her sleep is probably the best thing you could do, so try not to care. Remember that with women, many people feel women owe them sexual actions for little favours, and she could have felt that she was suddenly possibly owing…

I wish I could tell you. I also wish I could find a subreddit like this one for women.

Don't forget that some women have seldom had sex and are fearful of getting fucked over somehow. She loves the attention and/or is scared of going farther. I know I am the same. I have been thoroughly ignored and nothing but outgoing while wanting to pace on my own terms.

As a self-knowing woman, I don't want to be dominated or any of that unless I'm begging in some kinky scenario. It's simple! If you look like you know what you are doing then you probably do. This means you aren't likely to be an idiot who doesn't know how to do things. It means you aren't a boy or a pushover. It means you know who you are and aren't going to flake or have some midlife crisis.
