As a former member of the FD I can assure you that is not always true. Depending on the situation and locale they do respond. Besides that if you read the complete story you would have understood that they were responding to calls at the time. The problem is they were responding to lower priority calls and ended up running out of manpower because crews were tied up doing stupid shit like parking an entire rig by a downed tree.

I completely understand the limited resources and multiple calls creating an issue. I'm a former first responder so I've been on the other side of these situations. My issue was that due to the number of calls they were receiving it was literally impossible for me to get back in touch with them "If it gets worse". By the time I could get anyone on the phone if I could at all it would be too late. They had resources tied up handling dumbasses who tried to drive their cars through standing water a…

During a really bad storm last year we had a tree and telephone pole with a transformer on it fall into our driveway. The telephone pole crashed through the roof of a car. Which grounded the transformer and it a blinding flash of light the plasma arc set it on fire. Along with the tree. Call 911, tell them a transformer just fell in my driveway and its on fire. They ask if we can leave the house. No, its the middle of a hurricane and even if we wanted to attempt it the live electrical lines are …

What if Johnny identifies as a woman? Has the ACLU asked? Seems presumptive of them to assume.

Exactly, if they are getting divorced the "emotional support" obviously wasn't there. So why does the person who contributed nothing to the assets entitled to half of them. The idea that in a broken marriage that results in divorce both people were equally responsible for the assets is pure insanity. In a lot of cases the person who contributed nothing financially was more of a burden than a help in creating those assets. Under the current system Adeles husband getting what he did is the definit…

Can't forget the surcharge for "raising his kids" which is the "toughest job in the world". Meaning she sat at home sipping drinks by the pool while the nanny that was paid for out of his earnings raised the children. Its funny how in a divorce the kids suddenly become "his kids" as if they are a burden he thrust upon her with her having no choice. But the second it comes to the custody hearings they are suddenly "her kids" and "you can't separate children from their mother for even a day or the…

I lived through a very similar situation growing up. He is probably giving her extra money in order to keep your situation at home a more comfortable environment. Even if it only means keeping her in a good mood so she doesn't take out her frustrations on you and your siblings.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
