Well... yes? I don't know, don't really care, just an idea off the top of my head.

We should use "nice guy" for "good guy", the ones OP described, and "Nice Guy" for everything related to /r/niceguys .

Again, he's speaking in form of statistical tendencies, not in absolute. He says that, on average, there are differences between men and women, and some of them may be biological to some extent, so to build an inclusive and understanding work environment it may be smart to take these factors in consideration. But he also says that, at the end of the day, the individual matters more than the social group they're from, and that we should always judge a candidate solely based on their skills. In hi…

It's really infuriating how a lot of media say that he's an "alt-right supporter", that he's a "white supremacists", or how he say that "women are less capable than men of being engineers" or whatever. He doesn't say any of that, and if these motherfucking alleged journalists had any kind of basic knowledge of statistics such as distributions and averages, things that you learn at least in highschool, there would have understood his statement and would have done their job by reporting facts rath…

I really can't say if you agree with me or not but no behaviour is solely determined by biology and differences aren't just socially constructed kind of say the same things. Our behaviours are partly determined by our biology, and by society. In which percentages we can't really say, I'd say that social construct is prevailing over biological nature, but biology is at least significant in some way. Hell some scientists have even shown that baby monkeys tend to chose different kind of toys based …

None. And nobody, especially the former Google employee, ever said that any kind of behaviour is solely determined by our biology. What this guy, and many researches before him, however say, is that biological differences between men and women tend to show some behavioural differences on average, meaning that these differences will only be perceived when taking in account a huge population, or when dealing with extrem contexts (for example: on average men tend to be a bit more agressive than wom…

I'm sure SJWs would answer to that saying "that's the patriarchy, we make people believe that the man is the strong one in the relationship, that he should be bigger and protect her, that's irrelevant! Women looking for violent porn are just internalizing their oppression and misogyny!"

From the update on moderation guidelines: Management of Multiple Communities: We know management of multiple communities can be difficult, but we expect you to manage communities as isolated communities and not use a breach of one set of community rules to ban a user from another community. In addition, camping or sitting on communities for long periods of time for the sake of holding onto them is prohibited. It's really clear, but apparently admins don't really enforce these rules, and many of …

He's more or less like h3h3, Idubbbz or even Notch to some extent. They're just "no bullshit" people. They don't tend to defend one particular idea, or movement, or any politics (we can argue whether or not Notch is pro-GG, but that's an other debate), they're just calling out stupid people doing stupid shit.

Genuine question: why don't you want to go out with a woman that isn't your wife? If you love your wife, she loves you, and both trust each other, what are the reasons you wouldn't go? If it's just a collegue, or a friend, and everything's clear, I don't see any reason not to, except "I don't want people to think wrongly" or "I know my partner don't/wouldn't agree". If it's a drink in the evening, I can understand how one can think wrongly, with the seductive atmosphere it implies, but for a lun…

Isn't that now against the rules to ban users based on the subreddits they post in or are subscribed to? Any way, I love how the "innocent until proven guilty" concept works in these kind of "safe spaces". You don't even have the chance to talk to these people, maybe learn from them, and teach them a few things, you know sharing and all this "being a better person" stuff.

a VERY strong verbal warning I see the legal system is working, as always. I remember when I was a kid, sometimes my parents, or a teacher or any kind of adult, would give verbal warnings not to do something, with no punition, or anything. It has always worked. For me, and for everyone else I know. Verbal warning is enough.

That's not the point of the comparison. The point is to detach pure decontextualized ideas from theories. Sexism is inequality based on gender, and racism is inequality based on race. That's it, nothing more. In that, both ideas are very similar. After that, whether or not there is an advantage of being male, female, black, white, asian, transgender or whatever, it depends on the context, on the culture, on the frame of reference. You can't reasonnably say "there isn't any advantages to being bl…

Well, my fault, it's unclear. She agrees with "you can't disagree with feminism", not with "if you disagree with feminism you're racist, or evil", that's just something I've read too many times on the internet, but she's not that extreme. She may think I'm stupid, or wrong, I don't care. I think she's stupid for some things, as goes for everyone else. I don't want to anticipate her future actions based on what she thinks. First because I'm terrible at anticipating, and second because I gave her,…

Because I have this strange ability to dissociate to a certain extent what people think about stuff and how good I feel hanging out with them. Also, I like being around people that doesn't exactly think like me, it feels like it prevents me from going full circlejerk and close minded about a specific subject. Also also I always try to be moderate in a debate and to make the discussion useful and productive, and so I use a lot of "I think", "it seems", "I don't understand" etc. It seems to work. …

And it's easier to blindly critizice than to take time to look things up, and admit that you're wrong.
/r/MensRights28/06/17 07:19 PM

Yeah, in France too we got some of that. People are trying to contest the neutral use of the masculine, or "Why in a group with both men and women do we use masculine?". This kind of stuff. I don't give a damn fuck, because it's just grammar and its rules, it's not sexism, and until now a majority of people were like me, but I fear all the "new wave feminism" or SJWs crap coming from North America that may hit Europe soon.

Well, for once, it didn't. Just have a look at the playlist : Black Girls Have the Biggest Booty? You Can Spot Fake Boobs? You Can Spot A Fake Butt? And that's just the three I noticed. A quick look through the playlist shows that they make this kind of video about a lot of gender or race based clichés, and use it as a basis for a comedy oriented video. They target everyone, more or less equally, and from the few I watched, it doesn't seem they push some kind of narrative like BuzzFeed. I'm not …

The argument behind that is that "sexism towards women is systemic, and they need to have safe spaces where they can freely live, try new things and express themselves without the social pressure of men". There is some kind of true behind, and you can understand how someone that constantly feel threatened (rightly or not) need to feel safe from time to time, but creating discriminatory groups or events, one way or an other, won't help solving any equality problem. We didn't fight against racism …

By saying "be yourself" to someone, you don't say to them "don't change", but rather "be honest". Honest about who you are, what you want, what you say, why you're doing what you're doing etc. Listen to yourself, look for your flaws and try to correct them, look for your qualities and improve them, embrace everything that makes you a unique, deep and interesting human being, and wear it like a second skin. Then you can learn things. One thing that I don't like in the "game" or "seduction" or "pi…

It's how all academia should be. I disagree. You go to college to learn stuff, and how to do stuff. Teachers have that knowledge, and their job is to give it to us, one way or an other. Most of the stuff you learn isn't debattable, because it's either proven, logical, or won't change. You don't have to agree to your math teacher, or your physics teacher, or your law teacher, or whatever. You just have to listen to what they say, understand it, and learn it. Ethics, politics, somehow philosophy i…

Middleclass european cis straight white student male here. Pretty high on the privilege ladder I would say. Still waiting for the benefits though. Is there any kind of privilege hotline to call to redeem my privilege points?
/r/MensRights01/05/17 01:14 AM

While I don't condemn them, I really don't like X only "safe" spaces, because I think that in society, good communication is worth everything, and by restraining talk groups for a certain part of the population, it helps segregate the society in some ways. We need to talk, to express ourselves, to share, to find comfort and help, but we also need to listen, listen to other people, different people, with other backstories, other lifes, other problems. I think the solution of all of these social r…

Rudeness would be to refuse to let someone sit down next to you. When in the sub or the bus, I almost always put my backpack on the sit next to mine (not on jump seats though) if there isn't many people. But when it becomes crowdy, I instantly take it and put it between my legs. I mean, it's an empty space nobody seems to use at the moment, so unless someone ask for it (or as I said there is a lot of people so someone will obviously need it), my bag isn't bothering anybody.

Ok, I didn't know it worked like that in the US, so sorry. Concerning the second amendment rights, if it's solely about bearing and keeping arms (which my 2-minutes google research told me), I can see why it's removed. I might not agree with removing the right to vote, or the offenders lists, but I'm not american, and I definitely don't want to start a debate about "who is right" or "which system is better" or all of this nonsense. What I meant is: it's logical for a State to keep a track of eve…

It's a bigger problem, and it has to do with some kind of moral code, perceived morality, I don't know what to call this. For people, someone found guilty for rape will always be a rapist, someone found guilty with murder will always be a murderer, someone found guilty for whatever felony or crime, will always be a criminal. It doesn't matter if the person has paid their debt, if they went to prison, if they didn't do anything illegal else than that, it will follow them. It always fill me with r…

I discovered this world of SJW, "feminism" and all this non-sense about a year ago, and when I was first amused by the stupidity of many people, I slowly began to think differently about feminism and all these social problems. Now, whenever I'm talking about it with people, I awlays take my time before saying some thing, and think about what will happen when I'll say that I don't agree with today feminism. Feminism is a strong word, and today it's still attached to "good", "correct", "way to do"…

Any new activity is, in fact, a good option. We tend to forget it, but mental state and physical state are linked in many ways. When you're feeling low, depressed, you tend to stay at home, do the same thing, day after day. You should try something new. To begin, go with something simple, breaking the monotony is the main goal. Go on a walk around the city, sit at a table a drink a coffee, live the moment, go watch a movie you like, things like that. It doesn't take much: put your shoes and a ja…

The idea is simple, but it needs practice, and it will take time, depending on your personality, but here's the tip: just don't give a shit. Just don't. When people ask for this kind of help, I feel like they're looking for something that doesn't exist. If you want to know how you can not giving a fuck about everything, all the time, the answer is simple: you can't. We're social animals, we need society to live, we need other people. No matter who, where, when, or how, if someone say something a…
