Emojis are the shit. Don't use them for supplicating "please come out with me :) :) :)" shit and don't use them constantly, but they work tremendously well for push game. Further, with girls under about age 22 it subcommunicates that you understand their headspace on some level. If you're trying to tag 18 y/os they should be part of your toolbox.
