I recently read something about being “wife zoned” that was pretty on-point. A lot of men are looking for casual sex, so when they meet a woman that they see something more in they tend to not want to taint her good nature. It might be worth a read (just search the term in google),

There definitely seems to be a weird code that mothers (especially stay at home mothers) ought to sacrifice so much of themselves that they loose they’re identity as anything but that. It’s ridiculous and unhealthy, so keep doing what you’re doing. Your children will learn to thrive by seeing you do it. I work full time, so I don’t have quite the same experience, but even as a working mother there are expectations that you let yourself go and that your work becomes lower quality because of it (q…

The only one responsible for your progression is you. No one owes you nor has the time to explain to you why they didn’t hire you. You’re version of “support” seems to be demanding that your GF demean herself to the extent of stating “yeah, this is a horrible company. I can’t believe that they hired me instead of you. I’m so unworthy compared to you.” Why are you trying to force her into that position? Stop blaming others. Learn how to improve yourself, read up on field dynamics, research every …

So...to clarify - you’re GF and you were applying for the exact same job, she was hired instead of you, and now you want her to talk shit about the entire hiring process while simultaneously blaming her for your inability to compete? That sucks about the job, but if the above is accurate you probably aren’t compatible with this person and should probably take a breather to reflect on the true reasons that you weren’t hired. If I misinterpreted your post, your GF still isn’t to blame. She wasn’t …

Congratulations! If you’ve been jumping into relationship to relationship, you might have a lot of emotions to sort through that you have tucked under a rug. Take time to sort through it all and let them go, taking it day by day. It’s ok to be “selfish” and pamper yourself. Women are frequently taught to sacrifice, but we can’t fill from an empty cup. Obviously take care of the needs of your children, but don’t forget about yourself. After my divorce I really focused on building a sanctuary for …

Ok, I’m looking at your past posts and comments. It looks like your in a really tough spot and trying to navigate it all on your own. That’s totally ok, and it looks like you are actively trying heal from it all which is absolutely beautiful. Have you ever looked into narcissistic relationships? It’s a pretty watered down term (narcissism), but true narcissistic relationships are brutal and incredibly hard to heal from. They force victims into a constant fight or flight mode, and the increased c…

The definition of alpha widow that I’ve been going off of. You seem to be healing, and that’s beautiful. It wouldn’t make you a widow from what I’ve understood of that whole concept though. Your ex wouldn’t even be deserving of the term alpha if he consistently and intentionally hurt you.

I thought that an alpha widow was a woman that was broken up by a man that she still loves, can’t have, and can’t seem to replace because no one else compares to how great he is/ was. Am I wrong about this definition? Why would someone want to actively replace the sort of ex that abused her with the same type of person?

I’m terrible at going to the salon, so I just keep it long (less maintenance and always in style). Sometimes I go quarterly, sometimes yearly. No matter where I go, it always seems to be $80.00 for the cut (I always tip well). If I go cheaper, it won’t grow out as well and I curse the skies for trying to be cheap and use a lower quality stylist. The good ones take me seriously when I tell them that the cut needs to look good after growing out anywhere from 3 months to a year, depending on when I…

I can’t speak for all women, but I do agree with this. Women basically want to have genuine relationships with people, romantic and platonic. Guys playing games, either BP or RP isn’t attractive as the attempts of so many are strictly sexually based. Then the same sets of guys, who want women to be promiscuous also tell them that they are terrible for being what they keep pushing and intentionally tricking women in to being. Overall, no, probably don’t explain BP vs RP but do be honest about you…

“Femininity is a type of strength. The ability to be nurturing, perceptive, strengthening. A feminine woman can bring out the best in people. She can create order from chaos, turn a conversation into comfort, a meal to family time, and so on. Femininity is adding an element of care into what you do. Femininity is curious and explorative.” This is incredibly on point! Gorgeously explained.

I certainly don’t think that I’m owned by anyone. I am my own person, with my own dreams and aspirations. The life I live is in my own hands. Perhaps I’m reading too much into the choice of that word though. I do believe that it’s inevitable that when we are intimidate with others (whether that be emotionally, physically, or spiritually) we cherish the moments we had with them and reflect on past mistakes in the relationship if distance grew. Some relationships can come back to life if properly …

Most women I’ve ever met that do this do so because they are incredibly insecure and can’t get validation in real life. Is it easy for them to date? Yes. Do those relationships tend to be hallow and short lived? Also yes. What we see on social media is the highlights. What you are imagining as the lives of these women isn’t the full reality. It’s ok to feel like you want that sort of highlight lifestyle, but just like when we see a movie we need to remember that it isn’t all real.

When I was married and feeling a bit down I would do some self-pampering (manicure, pedicure and mask) and buy myself flowers (ex-husband refused to). Sometimes I would go shopping too, as I always love getting myself a cute new dress. You might find yourself disappointed trying to seek validation online. From what I’ve seen, it can be rather addicting with those likes and loves and quite often it’s a false sense of validation anyways as it’s so fleeting.

I’ve seen far too many “(s)he started it” arguments in professional settings. It’s exhausting to start having to police, especially as the behaviors inevitably escalate. Politely telling someone to stop a behavior, especially in writing, helps HR set a precedent. There may be more at play than one single person at the same level is able to see. The “make sure she doesn’t have the guts to do it again” thing I agree with, but the play needs to be appropriate and completed by the correct person. HR…

Any superiors wouldn’t want to deal with that petty bs suggested. They already have one person to make a file on for being an idiot, that whole “tit-for-tat” advice would just make them now need to keep tabs on more people and make it harder to actually fire the original problem person. You can clearly and calmly tell someone that they’ve crossed a boundary without needing to stoop to their level.

This is horrible advice. When someone acts like an idiot you let them dig their own grave in job settings. You act above the behavior, not match it or work below it.

Eat right, exercise, be religiously good with your skin care, wear quality makeup, wear fashionable clothes in colors and textures that suit your personality, and consistently work on your internal self. Being beautiful will only take you so far in life if you’re just focusing on your external self. If you really want to be a 10, looks alone won’t cut it. You need to be articulate, kind, generous, and intelligent as well.

I asked because this group seems to be all about letting men lead, and you are doing the exact opposite and are experiencing an undesirable but expected consequence of that. He can’t “be a man” if you don’t give him the space to be one. Your pace isn’t going to be his. Yours isn’t giving either of you satisfaction, so why don’t you try to go at his? That will take patience, but maybe if you step back and let him initiate you’ll both be happier. You may want to explain that to him if you are stil…

Are you equally giving him the space to discover what he needs? Was he able to lead in this at all? The environment you depict for him seems cold at first glance, and if you don’t desire him then of course he’s going to feel that and respond accordingly. It takes time to learn about what moves someone else. If he hits off all the other boxes, maybe make him feel more desired next time and see what changing the focus some will do?

Agreed. There’s some excellent books about fashion and color choices (like David Zyla’s Color Your Style). I look great in soft pinks and corals, but look ridiculous in bubble gum pink. Black looks good on a lot of people, but it can wash out some. I love black, but look better in charcoal grays which I’m still struggling with (mainly because black is easier to shop for).

I think that cheating is a deal-breaker. It shows a lack of respect and loyalty, which are the two things I think are true needs in a relationship. My ex-husband flirted with women quite a bit, and we had more than a few arguments when he went too far with that (sometimes right in front of me). I later found out that he was doing an awful lot more with these women than I thought he was. I stayed for too long, and the last affair was so open that they were posting their dates on social media (I f…

I think needs are pretty much the same for both men and women - a roof over your head, food, clean water, transportation, clothes, hygienic items, community. If there was an emotional need per age, at least from what I’ve seen it would probably be: -20s - validation This is a weird time for women. You basically face a fork in the road - create a family or build your career. Regardless of which choice you make, others will tell you that you are making the wrong choice and will do so unprompted. -…

Beauty: a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.

Weight was once considered a sign of wealth and fertility in women. Look at historical art work for examples. Then compare that to beauty in the 80s and early 90s in magazine. Sure, symmetry is important but the thought of ignoring social definitions of beauty doesn’t negate its reality. There’s women that have elongated their necks with rings for beauty, others that let their breast hang low, those that find the sun offensive while others worship it. Heck, look at fashion. It definitely changes…

Lady here. Women are taught that beauty fades, and the wise ones (that listened to their elders) work on their internal selves as a result of that. We need to compensate for the natural physical value decrease and ensure that we can re-balance ourselves. I personally don’t want any dead weight in my life. I don’t need a man to provide for my needs, only my wants, so if a man can’t provide for those wants then he really isn’t worth my time. As women age, just like men, they accept less bs. Women …

Hold on to your values. If you aren’t comfortable with something, then he needs to respect that. It seems like he’s trying to open up doors to allow himself to have repeat affairs in the future, and if you demean yourself he will find it easier and easier to do so as well. I would say until things balance out, definitely don’t bring a baby in to the mix right now.

Thanks! I’m still figuring everything out (and will be for the rest of my life), but I try to take a step back and ask my LO what she needs. She has pretty high emotional intelligence now, and has no qualms calling me out when I’m “grumpy.” I call her out too. We own up to our mistakes, learn from them, and try again. Hardlines can be tough at times, but are necessary. My LO knows when something is debatable and when something is off the table for discussion (though of course she tests boundarie…

Beauty is a subjective social construct. If you are fitting in with those norms, you tend to be treated with higher respect (from both men and women) as people believe that you respect yourself as well. If you are going out in public in a ratty old sweatshirt, people will believe that you don’t respect yourself and will follow suit. As Coco Channel said, “If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack.”

I’ve been reading the men’s version for a while now (let’s call it morbid curiosity). I think there’s an awful lot of young guys posting, and they are ruining a lot of the core concepts of it - which seems to be about being a better version of yourself just because instead of solely focusing on trying to impress women. I also think there’s a newer subset that are truly trying to learn about themselves, women, and the society that we now live in. They seem to have increased in number (ones with m…

A few months doesn’t seem like enough time to consider yourself in “nun mode,” especially if you’re still actively looking on dating sites. Are you trying to will yourself into thinking in those sorts of terms? It seems like you should take a true breather and focus on yourself for a while. You’re still incredibly focused on dating. That’s ok in its own right, but if you want to grow focus on what your “nun mode” could look like instead of what getting out of it will. Start a new hobby, travel, …

The best I’ve found is following male leadership tactics but using feminine words (beautiful, perfect, lovely, incredible, etc). With hardline items, stating “I’m not comfortable with” instead of “no” seems to maintain femininity even in male dominated fields (at least in my experience). With managing people, being tactful and explaining the importance of something you are requesting (providing context for the job) seems to help. Also, let your work speak for you.

Ooof, if that was truly a maid then that’s terrible. I can’t imagine the business relationship remaining professional after that. But indeed, there is and should continue to be designated cleaning attire.

Lady here. Have you ever tried to clean a house in a mini skirt and high heels? It isn’t practical. The skirt can get dirty, and heels in the house can wreak havoc on floors. Plus women don’t want to waste outfits (means more laundry on laundry day). I’ve worn house dresses plenty of times, but the only time I’ve worn high heels while cleaning is because I was trying to gain some height to clean cupboards.

Is your 14 year old daughter living with you and this man? Between the unrequited crush for a truly unknown man and his admitting to liking younger women, this all seems like a GET OUT sort of situation. I don’t mean to be harsh, and I understand the loneliness, but your daughter is at an extremely vulnerable age right now and this seems like a recipe for disaster.

I’m in the single season too! Though at this point I more so feel like it’s just my new normal. I focus on raising my LO right, building my career, and recently socializing more (I had a lot of healing to do from my divorce). Soon I expect to add travel for pleasure to my list as well, especially as my ex-husband has recently become supportive of me doing more than just raising our LO and working. Find colors, fabrics, and styles that suit you. Books like Color Your Style by David Zyla can give you some ideas if it’s a new concept to you. Try to be conscious of the environment that you’re going to be in as well. A pencil skirt and stilettos probably isn’t going to be your best idea at a picnic, for example, as your heels will get stuck in the grass and sitting will be awkward. I try to shop quarterly so I’m up to date on trends, and I know which companies have the best fits for me. I also…

Weird, jumping on the INTJ train. I just discovered this page today. I wouldn’t consider myself a RPW, but that stem from judging the term due to all the insanity I’ve read from the men’s version. My ex-husband is an ENTJ, and after some soul searching I’ve realized that what I really want in a relationship is someone to cherish my heart. I think respect and loyalty are incredibly important in relationships, and that was seriously lacking in my marriage. So, I suppose I think that a man that can…
