It absolutely is! Honestly I find a lack of empathy the root cause of so many atrocious opinions. You can never have too much empathy.

Hey OP, wasn't going to comment but you've got some shitty replies, so I wanted to pitch in another really positive one! I'm so happy and so proud of you, I wish you a lot of joy. Just make sure you've grown enough so that even if it happens that she falls away, you don't simply go back to that place. Your new strength should come from within you, because you've changed, not existing solely because of her.

The problem is you're still seeking one size fits all 'truth' or 'answer'. It does not exist. You will be so much more at peace when you come to terms with that.

How often do you hear: "When I was younger, I wanted bad boys, but they kept screwing me over. So I decided to date somebody who may be not as sexy or exciting but is at least nice." Literally never lmao. Mostly convinced this is an attitude people like you cling to to torture yourselves with.

I don't really disagree but I see this kind of thing a lot and I'm struggling with the HOW this happens, in a practical sense. There's no doubt the people in power are trying to keep the status quo, that the poor are too busy, overworked, sick and exhausted to do much about it. But how does this happen? Are you saying the Murdochs of the world have secret meetings where they literally make plans to use their influence with the literal goal of 'keeping people divided'? Or is it just the by-produc…

Why are you treating it like a dichotomy, like a relationship has to be either one or the other? They are both two ridiculous extremes. The truth is somewhere in the middle - a lot of hard work and a lot of reward, while also recognising one person isn't likely to fulfil all your needs as a person. Which is fine, that's why why have friends, family, work, pets and hobbies!

It's certainly possible she doesn't like you back and is distancing herself from you. A bit shitty and cowardly instead of just telling you but that is okay. She is allowed to not like you back and distance herself from you. It is not a reflection on you as a person, sometimes it just doesn't work out. The way you are reacting to this is not healthy.

What everyone has else said, but I'd like to bring your attention to a different problematic angle to your attitude here. Do you understand how awful and insulting you are being to her right now. You are not treating her like an individual human being with her own unique desires, personality, wants and needs, you're treating her like a chip off some fembot monolith hivemind who MUST like only x, y and z because That's What Women Are Like. So fucking insulting. Stop it. Stop it right fucking now.…

The fact you read that person's comment and only took 'looks don't matter' out of it says a lot about you, friend.

Other comments have said actual advice better, but I just want to shout out you for recognising this as an issue and looking for help on it. So emotionally mature and awesome (and very attractive in a partner when you do decide to get into a relationship again ;). Good for you x

My first thought is that some women would be looking for a fuck buddy, so looks are vital and a lot would overlook bad personality shit in that case. The main thing missed though is that yeah looks makes it easier to date and get matches, but long term happiness depends on personality. You can't out-ab an abusive, narcissistic asshole.

Hey, I would say firstly you clearly have some mental health issues you need to get on top of - it seems like even if you found someone, you're not ready for a relationship and you would be a bad boyfriend. So go get therapy, see how that goes. You deserve it. The second this is simply that like, when you feel like this, no matter how you try to hide it or be 'normal', women can pick up on it. They can probably sense something 'off' about you - not that there's something wrong with you, but a fr…

This is one of those things where it's like 'obviously you can have preferences and when it comes to sexual partners and attraction there's nothing that can or even should change your mind' - HOWEVER when you get to the bottom of the real why in these scenarios, there's usually some bigoted nonsense at the end. This is OK as we all have our bits and pieces, but it's not good when you don't admit that and just stick blindly to the term 'preferences' like a life boat. For example, lots of people a…

The most bullshit thing you've said (and believe me, this is saying a lot) if that you want your views challenged. You do not. You want to flex your superior knowledge and intellect. We cannot help people who have no intention of being in good faith. Go be pathetic elsewhere.

Agree - not only is it impossible to 'fix' (you can't logic someone out of a position they didn't logic themselves into), indifference and no attention is how you kill a movement. They feed off rage. Subs like this are great where people who are questioning or have genuine questions can be engaged with but that's all.

It sounds like she was desperate for a child to 'fit in' her social circle; anyone would do. Not that it's really any better but you're framing this about women and the relationship when it's only about her and having a kid. I don't really know what to tell you. Yes some women are pieces of shit like this. Most aren't. Again, women are human beings who fuck up and are awesome at the same rates as men. Can we pin this to the top of this sub or something? Good for you OP, you're totally right. Commenting basically to assure you you're on the right sub lol though I of course support poor souls stuck in red pill thinking to browse this one. Can you sit back for a moment and imagine how existentially terrified these men are of the world. That women are unique humans who need and want different things. If anyone does that, they're a shit person, straight up. It is not normal or OK behaviour. 'Women' as a homogeneous group (which they are not) do not do that. I'm sorry for your friends if they have experienced this, it's awful. Remember toxic masculinity is upheld by women just as much as men.

Please don't. Women are just people who have fears and hopes and dreams the exact same as you. Don't try to cover your insecurities and cover up who you really are by trying to 'game' her. Please please please.

This is SO GOOD. I've thought the exact same way in that the problem is so many not even seeing the other gender as human beings, trying to unravel their mysteries and secrets like they're a hard to read map. We all have a lot more in common than differences.

Unfortunately young women have to err on the side of caution, there's no point taking it personally (not that it sounds like you are). Older woman feel like they're 'past their prime' and don't worry about unwanted attention as much.

You sound like you've done some great work in your past - that part about learning to enjoy the hobbies you like instead of pretending to like sport sounds great! I don't know why you're accusing me of being red pill - you do know what sub you're on right? I'm saying you need to again - you've already done it - unashamedly embrace doing what you love and being who you really are, not force yourself into something you're not. Fuck red pill. So what is stopping you from embracing your nerdy self again? Why are you still trying to be like those morons and pretending you're like them? The answer is simply 'you', but you don't want to hear that. And I can't trust that you've done all the self-reflecting hard work - I don't know you and don't know what you've tried to do - but I do trust that you've tried. It is an excuse. It's your decision to keep thinking this way, keep victimising yourself, to keep blaming this girl for your problems. Sometime you just have to force yourself to pretend to be the fck over it and move on. And then eventually you actually do.
/r/ExRedPill16/03/20 10:30 PM

As the below comment says, you can either take pain and use it as a catalyst for growth or you can see yourself as a victim and use this idiot girl as a scapegoat for all your problems. Unfortunately it looks like you're doing the latter. Some people are fucking pieces of shit. This girl seems like one of them. Why are you giving her so much power over you? I know it's a bit of a shitshow but if you go to relationship subs and see how many posts are about women at the end of their rope with men who just don't give a shit. They don't care about her problems, empathise with how she's feeling, understand the concept of doing something simply because it would make them happy or their lives easier. Empathy, affection, sensitivity (within reason), expression are beautiful things, my dude.

Ugggh. My forever response to any bullshit like this is "did you know that women are people too and we are much more alike than we are different". Stop trying to psychoanalysis us to "work us out" like we're some fucking homogeneous hive mind. Be honest and kind to everyone you meet. Boom the end.
/r/ExRedPill20/02/20 09:39 PM

I mean if I found out my husband of a very long time thought my only valuable contribution to life and our relationship was sex, companionship and a uterus, that's...pretty horrifying. I believe you know this on some level, which is why you live this bizarre, duplicitous life. I don't care about you or even her, but I do care about your children. You are clearly one of those sad, bitter men but I am v happy you're here on this sub, so. When you start to define a modern relationship, as the vast majority of sane people who aren't into 'gaming' and pathetic huge generalisations do, as lifelong teamwork, you'll find women absolutely need all of these things as well. Steady job - this can be full time motherhood, but a lot of men will find an unemployed, lazy woman extremely unattractive and exactly the kind of person waiting for a man to pa…

I genuinely dont know the rates of infidelity, but I do know it's not that bad. In my life I know one person who's cheated. You're definitely overthinking it. Why do you think everyone left and right is cheating? This is you projecting your insecurities onto society in general. I know "you're insecure, stop overthinking it" is literally the most unhelpful thing ever, so think about this: Say the infidelity "rate" is like 20% - you have a 20% chance of being cheated on if you were in a relationsh…

How the literal fuck were women supposed to do shit when they weren't allowed an education, weren't allowed to enter the workforce, were expected to stay at home, clean it, have sex and pop out babies - that was it. There's this really lovely line in "A short history of nearly everything" where it explains how in early stage astronomy, women were only allowed to do the tedious task of star mapping, just looking at thousands of images of the sky and map/record stars. My partner is quite a stereotypical manly dude and is super emotional in front of me, inc crying. He tells me his deepest thoughts, his darkest and most raw emotions. I do the same. We are a team. This is what human interaction is and should be. It is just... unspeakably horrific that some men like you are conditioned to the point where they think this us abnormal, gross and scary. They are literally missing out on life. I hope you understand this one day.

You're totally right, my bad. I just...where to begin. I can't really express myself better than Raziphel above, but to get a bit more granular, is this ideal husband/wife thing how you actually think? Do you have any comprehension on how fundamentally insulting that is to both men and women? Everything you say, even the seemingly sensible stuff, is still through the lens of the assumption that individuals can be labell…

Yes, but the problem is when we take those general rules which describe *populations* and apply them in our personal lives on an individual level. It's a concept many have difficult with - they see these rules which put people into pretty little easy to understand boxes and they think they've hacked life, and get frustrated when the individual people they interact with don't act like how the boxes say they should. It's a completely incorrect paradigm with which to interact with the world.

I dunno man, you still talk about women like they're predictable, categorisable entities that men need to manage and understand, and not like they are people. I'm glad you seem to have a sensible head on your shoulders and have rejected the more toxic shit but the way you describe things still doesn't sit right with me.

In the furore about toxic masculinity, I think it's worth talking about some of the great things about masculinity. I think stoicism as youve described here is one of them. There are times being emotional is good, and other times it isn't and stoicism is a good attribute.

As well as other excellent advice here, I'd make sure she knows this - you were into some fucked sexist shit you're trying to unlearn and you need her support. I feel like so much of that ideology can be counted with "We're all just people". Like yes we're mammals and social creatures and there are broad, sweeping facts and assumptions we can make about things. There is, however, next to no use in applying these on an individual level and to our personal relationships. We're all different (shades of Grey) and we're all the same (we all essentially struggle with the same things and want the same things). There is therefore no point in trying to game or …

You’re probably in the limbo stage of your relationship then - the honeymoon is wearing off but 7 months is too short to feel that long term love and security. It’s definitely reasonable to be a little sad over it - but all you can do is keep enjoying her company and learn about her and yourself. The rest will come. Also 20 is not late, I was 23, like this other guy here. A lot of people do it a LOT later than it seems, and doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with them.

Of course physical attraction is important and there are physical traits we’ve evolved to appreciate. Don’t dismiss modern dating because of it. Yes good looking people have the upper hand, but don’t discount the attraction of intelligence, confidence or a good personality. Everyone needs something beyond a pretty face to be a in a healthy relationship with someone. Your third point is a lot sadder but easier to debunk - why do you think the start is the best? What do you think comes after? If y…

If your source is the daily mail then it's as good as debunked. Why on earth would the number matter? Think it through. I personally cannot think of any reason except for a self fulfilling prophecy where people get insecure about their partner's number and sabotage their own relationship.

I actually really appreciate what you’re trying to do, honestly say you’re conflicted with these two ways of thinking, coming here with thoughts and offering discussion.
