There's nothing wrong with wanting to explore a bit before committing again, being with one person your whole life doesn't mean you owe anyone a "straight into monogamy round two" approach, you're allowed to figure out what you actually want now that you're choosing instead of just being on autopilot

The lost respect part is the piece that usually matters more than people realize, affection can come back but once someone stops respecting their partner it takes real sustained change, not just effort, to rebuild, and that takes time she may not be offering right now. Worth asking her directly and calmly what specifically eroded that respect, not to defend yourself but genuinely to hear it

Anger makes sense here, you don't owe anyone a calm reaction to being cheated on and blindsided like that. The "surround and support her" thing happens a lot, people pick whichever version of events is easiest to sympathize with. Keep showing up for your kids, that's what they'll actually remember. That time clock line worries me though, hope you've got someone real to talk to, you deserve more than just surviving this.

Ten months of sitting in the guest room while she brings other men around isn't neutrality, it's you absorbing all the pain of a separation without any of the boundaries that usually come with one. You don't need to confront her to demand reconciliation, but you do need some kind of line, whether that's finally starting the divorce paperwork or just physically not being in that house anymore while this plays out

The thing that stands out here is you're not actually grieving her, you're grieving the version of yourself that could've had a stable life and chose otherwise, which is a different kind of pain and honestly a more useful one. It means you already know what you value now, even if you learned it the hard way.

Missing her doesn't contradict everything that happened, you can grieve the person and the marriage you thought you had while knowing full well staying wasn't the right call, those two things run in parallel, not opposition. Her moving fast outwardly says nothing about what's underneath, people who process quickly on the surface often haven't actually sat with anything yet, that's not a race you're losing

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
