Im sure these questions will vary based on the individual but im just curious. When reading this sub I kind of lose hope in humanity. I personally really want love to be real. But everything I read on here seems so odd and calculated to me. Some people on this sub seem to really preach one side of things and its actually worrying. Aww. I was like 18 or 19 when I found this sub years ago, around the time of the start of my first LTR. I never tried to apply RP "wisdom" to that relationship, but it…

Nah. Love and romance (and yes, heartbreak and rejection) have inspired some of the greatest works of art through the ages. Poems, novels, songs, paintings, movies... It's a deeply human experience. I don't mind being human.

I wouldn't say I'm "against" it, but hook-ups aren't something I want for myself. I don't think anything "made" me that way, I just was. As a teen I was writing love stories in the margins of my notebooks and mooning over my crush wishing he'd love me, not dreaming of hooking up with guys, and that just never changed. Casual sex just never appealed to me.

College, work, hobbyist classes, hobbyist meetups, volunteer activities, library, clubs, large social parties, small friend-group parties, cafés, bars, concerts, on a hiking trail, online communities, malls, public transport, coed sports, online gaming, school, singles speed dating. Speed dating sounds like a nightmare to me, I don't game, I'm not one for sports, and school is in the past. The rest would all be pretty fine. I met all my relationships in college classes, at college events/parties…

1) I wasn't in love and broke up with him 2) I wasn't in love and he sensed it and broke up with me 3) Following a rather traumatic event and suicide threats from her ex, she broke up with me 4) We were in love but severely incompatible. It was the first multi-year relationship for both of us and we had a lot of growing to do and just couldn't do it together, I think. Couldn't agree on plans for the future and had a big dramatic ugly breakup.

It's just so normal to me I don't think he would even have to bring it up. I can't even remember how the conversation about rent went when we moved in; he certainly didn't have to go out of his way to let me know. We both expected to split the rent, and we do, and neither of us feels anything about it.

We live together and do 50/50 because we have similar enough incomes. We've discussed that if that changed, we'd consider splitting proportionally, and if one of us lost their income, the other would cover for them. It's not exactly an expectation though; I'd say we are lucky enough to have similar mindsets -- when the topic comes up, each of us always says "If that happens I could live off my savings for a while, I'd pay my half" and the other says "Nah I'd cover you." We do joke that if that h…

Probably not because we met at work, and some coworker immediately flirting with me in the workplace would have put me off, I think. If we'd met somewhere else I don't think it would have been an issue though.

This place wasn't originally designed for people to bitch about their dating life; it was about debating what red pill theory says about intersexual dynamics. And those don't cease to exist when you get married. A lot of people are here because they're interested in relationship dynamics or because they find the discussion here entertaining, not because they struggle.

We met at work and have been together over two years now. We live together so we do see each other every day (which is pretty normal...), but we don't have to see each other at work every day. Most of the time we're in different buildings. Since we have similar jobs though, it's been extremely convenient to be able ask each other things without worrying about getting annoying. There are several married couples that work for our company. Meeting at work and, in your case, at school, strikes me as…

I'm not married, but my boyfriend is the first person I've dated whose family has been so warm and welcoming, and whose relationship with his family is close and positive in the first place. It's so nice and makes such a difference that I don't know if I'd ever be able to date someone without that again, let alone marry into that family. I love my family and they love me, and they adore him too. And his family really likes me too. It just feels so pleasant and natural when things are mirrored li…

They don't want to be teachers. If the 24 year old successfully acts like he "gets it" now, she's not going to notice or care he didn't get laid in high school. I don't know how she would find out, but I doubt she'd care if she did -- unless she was literally the first woman he ever got anywhere with.

I was 24. I had a doctor ask me if I wanted to be on the pill when I was 15. I said no thank you. In college I decided on a copper IUD because I preferred to avoid hormones. After a few years the side effects became intolerable so I had it removed. In my next LTR I felt a bit meh about relying on condoms only with my boyfriend, so I decided to finally try the pill. Why? Because I don't want to get pregnant. Well, it sucked for me so after 6 months we decided to stop. I was bleeding non-stop on i…

That would just be so weird to me we'd have a conversation about why he felt the need to have that... and then depending on how strongly he felt about it we would probably also argue until we broke off the engagement.

Because I don't see a reason to hide it. Is it supposed to be some sort of shameful secret? There's nothing crazy or embarrassing or impressive about my salary or my savings. At the time, he insinuated I probably made more than him; I shrugged and told him my salary. Then he immediately told me his. And the world didn't end and we're very happy together two years later.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 11:42 AM
2

I told my boyfriend my salary early on, I think before a month was up. Maybe before 2 weeks lol. Savings amount didn't come up for a few months, but we both knew we had savings. It would be really weird to me to not bring up either until engagement. I feel like we would have to intentionally avoid the topic.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 11:35 AM
2

Argue until we broke off the engagement, probably. I work and don't intend to stop working; I wouldn't even receive alimony here if we did divorce. I don't even know if that clause would be valid. But I wouldn't want to marry him anymore after the request. Both of us come from families with a SAHM and both of us strongly believe our mothers gave up a lot for us and wouldn't deserve to live in poverty after a divorce.

No strong feelings about changing my name. I would probably do it if he felt strongly about it and his name wasn't horrible. If it was entirely up to me I'd probably double-barrel or keep mine. I would want to share a last name with my kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:40 AM

In what ways do you still feel like a kid? But I would say it's not just you. Watching 20, 30 year olds complaining how hard "adulting" is, I'd say it's a pretty common sentiment.

I don't find watching gross close-ups of gross people having gross sex hot. I'm more likely to be aroused by a long romantic movie with a single fade-to-black scene after a kiss. Sex is more mental than visual for me, so I enjoy a written story where I can learn a bit about the characters and really believe in their desire for each other because I saw it build up.

Divorce? Financial and health problems can put a crazy strain on a marriage. Also people who married really young can change to become incompatible. And a lot of people just become complacent and stop putting in effort and the relationship starts to suck; "love" isn't enough. Breaking up? Any number of things... Moving for college or for a job, financial incompatibility, disagreement on whether or not to get married, kids...

What do yall think of this situation? The two most interesting things about this situation is (a) they never married but had 2 kids and (b) Olivia Wilde still cheated on Jason Sudeikis who in all respects is a very high value man, in spite of their very long term relationship which by all accounts seemed healthy, and the fact they had 2 kids. I've always said I'd date myself. I'm something of a loner; there are few people I can stand for long periods of time and I happen to be one of them. I find my jokes funny, I want the same amount of physical touch as myself, and I think I'm attractive. My boyfriend and I met at work and make the same salary anyway so that's cool too. I think I'd be best off with someone who complements me in some areas rather than matching my personality exactly, but I'd certainly try to date myself.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/22 09:08 AM
2

No. At my age, those kids would still be minors for at least another decade. I simply don't want to raise someone else's kids, regardless of how alive the other parent is or isn't. That's a lot of time, money, and energy drained for little reward. Being a stepparent can be pretty thankless. If I were older and had a kid of my own I'd probably feel differently.

Women are very aware of it. A lot of people waffle for ages before breaking up. A lot of people stay too long. I tried to break up with my ex half a dozen times lol. We dated for 4 years and for some reason I was really worried I wouldn't find someone who wanted the same things from life as me after him. Your friend's other options were probably to stay with a guy who wasn't into marrying her or wasn't compatible with her. It's a shame it was a financial hit, and it's a shame her boyfriends in h…

I would be grossed out. It doesn't have to matter beyond that. Like following a porn actress with your normal Facebook account, or commenting "so sexy, I'd bang you" on someone's photo. It's classless and I wouldn't want to date someone who does that. All theoretical; I doubt I'd ever see anything like this in my feed.

I used to not think about it much. My exes had quite meh relationships with their parents -- neutral to terrible, really. It didn't affect our life together that much because we lived far from family, so I didn't linger on it. My parents welcomed them all the same. My boyfriend has a fantastic relationship with absolutely lovely parents who make me feel so welcome, and it's so nice. So while I wouldn't call a bad relationship with family a total dealbreaker, it's certainly a negative.

Can't we? Watch us. That linked post is literally about "mental health issues." Yeah, when some woman asks a man to be more expressive, she doesn't mean "please vomit all your trauma and explain your 3 mental disorders in graphic detail." She means stress or excitement, not clinical depression and panic attacks. Suppose a young woman in a relationship demands of her boyfriend an "open relationship," and she gets her way because the boyfriend knows he is dating in the shadow of Tinder and is replaceable. Are we really claiming this power of the man wouldn't moderate the narcissism of the young women insisting on "open relationships"? Okay, that seems like a really specific scenario. Book covers are marketing and branding. They're not what gets women hot. They are what says, "This is what this book is about. It's the same kind of book you liked last time. So buy it." Women don't fantasize about the cover. I only read romance online or in eBook format anyway; I don't spend any time on the cover. As for dialogue and general writing quality -- of course some of it sucks. Some of it is fantastic, though. And yeah, romance has its tropes. That's what makes it romance. They're tro…

My ex and I reached that crossroads when I was about to graduate, and jobs for me in his city were nonexistent. I met my boyfriend a couple weeks before the first lockdown, and we just never lived apart again after our first sleepover. This of course made us neglect our social life even more, but we had the benefit of using all restrictions as an excuse to cuddle at home daydreaming about our future plans and bake a million cakes.

If you're a woman on a bike you'll be drowning in dick... well, provided you're hot enough. If you're a dude with a bike you'll be surrounded by dudes with bikes and 99% of the attention and compliments you get will be from other riders... who are mostly men. I have more sex than I spontaneously want to and he has less sex than he would ideally want to. I don't see a lack of libido as a reason not to have sex with my SO. He's understanding about fatigue and stress when those are applicable. He's also not pushy at all, nor am I frigid and frequently turning him down. I make an effort to initiate, and he appreciates it. I would never consider opening the relationship. If he wanted it multiple times daily and couldn't compromise we would break up.
