For anyone interested, there's a men-only homeless shelter named Earl's Place. It's a really great organization and I've met some of the men who live there and made a donation myself. It's the only men-only shelter I know of in the US, and I couldn't be more happy it exists

I do think this is discriminatory but know that men aren't paying anything extra or more than they usually pay. The store owner is just paying the sales tax for female customers out of pocket.

My local barbershop has a sign in the window that says its for men only. Women have tried to challenge this and they will cut their hair but only do men's cuts

I understand. The same frustration you feel towards the movement as a whole with the negative, separtist, misogynist views expressed by the fringe is the same frustration that is felt by many MRAs towards the feminist movement. The difference and the root of a big problem, at least in my opinion, is that feminists will defend ridiculous, sexist viewpoints espoused by radfems simply bexause the view expressed is under the umbrella of feminism.

Im not blaming this on feminists, I just want to prevent them from making it worse, which is something that's actively happening. I don't blame anyone for anything, as I don't consider it productive or useful. I apologize if something I said made it seem like I was blaming feminists as nothing could be farther from the way I feel. Also, consider this study comparing genders in medicine.

I think its because some of the goals of feminism as it currently stands are directly taking away the rights of men. Whether or not that is the direct intention, those have been some of the results. For example, custody laws in divorce, assault bias, and changing the definition of rape to exclude men as victims.

I would say most MRAs consider themselves egalitarian. What I will say though is that for a movement that puts so much emphasis on language and word gendering, the use of the words feminism and patriarchy seem kind of conspicuous.

Because I can't even begin to comprehend all of the social rules, pressures, and expectations that being raised in Japan brings. I'm not saying Japan is another planet, but theres a reason they have such a high suicide rate. Or look up hikikomori and dokuo (which are also serious men's issues). Not to mention Japanese censorship laws and how sexuality is portrayed in Japanese media in clean anime and manga as well as pornography.
