Bell’s court costs and fines total $530, and he will have to participate in counseling with anger management and in a racial justice workshop within 90 days, according to the clerk’s office. Wtf... Are they saying he only punched that bitch because she's black?

Exactly. People keep making up shit / confusing it with schumer. Makes everyone here look bad and certainly doesn't give us a reason to be taken seriously

Cardi B didn't rape anyone. Why do people keep saying this? EDIT: OP is an idiot who confused Amy Schumer with Cardi B. You people are acting like the girls that spew false rape accusations... Stop spreading lies about Cardi B. Sure I hate her music but she's no rapist.

Being mean does not violate your liberty. You are still free to do whatever you want. Someone telling you to kill yourself does not hinder your ability to do anything unless you let it. A real violation of liberty would be if somebody imprisoned you. I don't think privacy and fraud are relevant here.

Give me one reason why crime should be illegal then. Crimes should be illegal if they violate someone else's unalienable right to life, liberty, or property (John Locke). Being mean does violate any of these rights. It was his decision to take his own life he was not murdered. Again, just because something is unethical doesn't mean you should be sent to prison for it. Here's an anology: Do you think you should be arrested for cheating on your girlfriend? Of course not. Is it an unethical thing t…

As others have pointed out to you that’s a completely different context. Okay And in some countries there are actually laws against online harassment and bullying. The UK and NZ are two that I know of. And I really don’t see any need to ever tell someone to go kill them selves that’s fucked up man. So even though it's a different circumstance you're still against even saying "kys" on the internet? Wow. And I thought other people here were being strict... Imagine going to prison for saying kys...…

Yes. Making points = constructing arguments.... Have you never made a point before?

That's a well stated summary of how emotional abuse works. Honestly, I don't really care how it works I don't think the emotional abuser should be criminally charged (unless it's physical abuse). Increased blood pressure? That's the worst that can happen? I don't think someone should be criminally charged for making someone stressed out. With that logic ever teacher in America should be charged...

So what level of specificity is required to make telling someone to kill themselves illegal? Clearly "kys" doesn't cut it for you so how about "hang yourself" does that count?

Good point, you’re just a half-assed anarchist. So since I want more freedoms for US citizens I'm a half-assed anarchist... Lol Having totally unlimited free speech is what our country started with, and then they had to add the exceptions due to negative societal consequences. More likely it was people like you that want Big Brother to control everyone's lives and forever worsened the US government. Wanna change that? Go to law school, practice as a lawyer for about 10 years, become a lower cour…

Wanting free speech to be completely free doesn't make me an anarchist. I'm not saying I want everything in the world to be legalized lol

I don’t know, threatening someone, slurs, anything inappropriate in a young environment (schools), etc. So I should get arrested for saying anything "inappropriate" in a school... Right... because I'm sure you've never once cussed in school. But I understand that this is too difficult for the average person to figure out, let alone you. The hypocrisy is insane. One second you say "you should be nice to people c'mon!!" and the next you say "wow you're such an idiot".

Multiple people have claimed this is a slippery slope fallacy. But, if you look at the other comments some people actually think saying kill yourself should be a criminal offense. So, I don't think it's much of a stretch. EDIT: grammar

So people were saying I had a slippery slope fallacy because I said "what if this leads to someone saying kys online getting arrested". People said I had nothing to worry about because it's a Slippery Slope fallacy. Yet here you are, suggesting that if I could be criminally charged for telling someone to kill themselves. "Well then just don't tell someone to kill themselves" is about the worst argument I've ever heard. You really think you should go to jail for saying "KYS" on a YouTUbe video?

No actually you did not as my central argument on concerns for Criminal Emotional abuse are When speaking about Criminal Emotional Abuse 4 common area's are referenced in most states Domestic Abuse, which requires a prolonged and personal relationship with the victim. Stalking which is Unwanted pursuit, contact, and harassment . Child Abuse, this should be self evident, and Elder Abuse This does not apply to comments on a random you tube video which is your moronic claim. Criminal Emotional Abus…

I linked to it so you'd get the joke and so my name wouldn't be associated with drugs. I figured it was a safe bet that you didn't know what MD5 hashes were since you were the kind of person to talk about hash oil and justifies vague limitations to free speech. "She admits in ... texts that she did nothing: She did not call the police or Mr. Roy's family" after hearing his last breaths during a phone call..." Personally, I think it's kind of stupid that not doing something can land you in prison. What would calling the cops even have accomplished? He's already dead it doesn't really matter. I'm not really sure how much clearer this can possibly be. She told him to commit suicide, and did nothing as he did it. I don't think this should be a crime, but i…

in this case a crime was committed multiple times over an extended period of time. Multiple people made this argument and I frankly think it's lazy and not well thought out. If you get punched the face once that punch is what makes it a crime. Why would it be a prerequisite to get punched in the face everyday for it to be considered a crime? At least be consistent. if a parent had done this to their child, what would you think? the same thing? if a mother coached her daughter into killing hersel…

suicide is a crime Yeah let's arrest all the suicide victims.... Oh wait... speech is only free unless it incites violence encouraging a mentally vulnerable person to kill themselves legitimately sounds an awful lot like inciting violence to me Yeah I guess it also matters that he died. there's a difference in most places around the world between shooting someone to death and injuring someone with bullets. In this case those bullets were mean words lol

So you’re saying people should be allowed to be mean to others and get away with it? Yes. So people who bully others everyday should be let off scot free? I'm not sure what you mean by bullying here. If you are talking about verbal bullying in schools then it's up to the school on how to deal with that and there shouldn't be any legal repercussions for that. If it's physical bullying in schools (or out of schools) then yes that's assault and should be dealt with by police and/or the justice syst…

You’re cherry picking parts of quotes to satisfy your side of the argument, while completely ignoring why you’re wrong. I pick quotes based on what the central argument is... I've refuted every point and don't ignore what people say. ITT a half dozen people have told you the same things, yet you still don’t get it. Yes and I've told them the same things: being mean shouldn't land you in prison. Troll? Or are you actually planning on/actively doing these things to someone, and attempting to pract…

What you are describing is harrasment. That's certainly a better argument than coercion. Although it's pretty easy to solve that issue... I believe there's a button called "block". he went out of her way to keep telling him, in no uncertain terms, that he should follow through on his suicide attempt. He almost didn't go through with it but she convinced him to keep trying. Sure is a sad story. What part of it should be illegal again? Oh yeah, saying "kys". arguing in bad faith Sorry, I was just …

No it is called a Slipperly Slope FALLACY it is an improper argument, it is a fallacy. That's what I meant... you're going to argue about slight terminology inaccuracies? I disproved said fallacy by citing how you actually think telling someone to kill themselves multiple times should be a criminal offense. That's what I was saying and you would've understood that had you not just seen the word "argument" and went "WRONNGGGG IT'S A FALLACY!!!" Not to mention there is been endless debate over whe…

People called this a "slippery slope" argument because I said saying "kys" could end up landing you in prison. However, you're suggesting that if I comment "kys" on random videos on YouTube I should be criminally prosecuted? That would fit certainly fit "multiple times" criteria. I guess it's not such a slippery slope after all if people like you actually believe it. Pretty Simple, I have lived a very very long life, I am pretty old, and I have never once told someone to kill themselves so it se…

but emotionally I say so. Of course, I agree with you there. Just because something is emotionally worse for someone doesn't mean it should be a worse crime. but imagine if he had a girlfriend who actually wanted him alive, instead of being so adamant about him killing himself. Yes, most likely the boy would still be alive today had he not gotten these messages. How about another hypothetical: what if the boy was very depressed and asked a girl out and she said no. Then, he killed himself after …

We do have free speech in the US, but there are exceptions to the rule for public safety, etc. If so it's not completely free in America. The law isn’t complicated - the situation that requires legal action is complicated. Okay so if the situation is complicated how am I supposed to avoid it? What things can I specifically not say? The law isn't concrete at all on this issue which basically makes going to prison inavoidable if you tell someone to kill themselves multiple times.

Hey hash oil My username is a reference to MD5 Hashes and doesn't have anything to do with hash oil (I just wanted to clear that up in case anybody thought my username was drug related) she told him to "get back in the car". That's not verbal assault. ...what? Sorry but that sounds exactly like verbal assault to me. What would you call it?

threating psychological harm Seriously? That's a crime? I don't care how mean you are to somebody you shouldn't go jail for something psychological. That's ridiculous.

I never said people shouldn't be nice. I just don't want people going to prison for being mean.

Nobody can tell you an answer to that If the law is so complicated that most people can't answer that question then how am I supposed to be able to follow it? For all I know saying kys and generally joking around about someone killing themselves could land me in prison if they actually did it. Also, free speech is actually limited in America. Not everything you say is protected. Good point. I guess I just wish we had free speech

Doesn't coercion require a threat of violence? I might've missed something in the texts but I didn't see any threats.

So how long does this have to go on for it to be considered illegal? If I sent you "kys" everyday for a year would I finally be sent to prison?

Why should the relationship someone has with someone make something a crime? If I'm dating a girl and I punched her is that worse than punching a random girl off the street? What exactly do you think should be illegal? Is it because he was mentally ill? Is that what makes being mean to someone illegal? If I sent multiple texts to you saying those things could I be charged? If it was a real crime (like actual assault) it wouldn't make a difference whether you were mentally ill or someone I was da…

Okay so what specifically about those differences will send me to jail? If I was your ex-gf alone, and I told you kys once is that completely legal? What about 5 times? Is that bad? Or is line drawn at 20 times? Or does none of that matter because you're not depressed? There is no clearly drawn line so how are we supposed to avoid going to jail for being mean to somebody? It was completely verbal and there was no actual assault. This was speech, and I thought we had free speech in America.
/r/MensRights25/02/19 01:19 AM

Okay so if you tell someone to kill themselves once it's fine but twice and you go to jail? This what I don't get. Where is the line drawn? Can someone tell me specifically how many kys's will land me in prison?
/r/MensRights25/02/19 01:15 AM

Just seems like this could easily escalate. If you tell me to kill myself right now will you go to jail? I don't like where this case leads us.

I personally don't see the problem in what she did, verbal assault = prison sentence? Just seems odd to me. Imagine getting criminay charged because you commented "kys". Where is the line drawn?
