I know lots of women who would have been happy to go register if the laws had been there when they turned 18. You're right though, it is easy to blow off because I really don't think the draft will ever be invoked again without a huge political upheaval -- in which case, I think that registration will become irrelevant ...it will just probably be enforced retroactively for women, should it come to that. For whatever reason (not enough evidence was found, a technicality, for example). Would the victim then be charged with falsely reporting? What if it was true but it can't be proved.
